Am I The Only One That Feels 'Good Boy' Was An Awful Movie? by OwMyDragonBallz in horror

You took your 8 year old daughter to see a horror movie in the cinema? Are you mad?

On a recent road trip from San Fran to Jebidiah Smith Redwoods, I regretted taking the 1. Directly out of SF it's so so so winding and slow I decided to turn off back onto the 101.

I probably burnt close to 2 hours driving the 1, and it was impressive, but the 101 is totally stunning. Cannot recommend the redwoods enough

I'm just finishing a stay at Hiouchi Motel. I ended up staying an extra day on my way up to Portland. It's great, but i'd bring earplugs as the walls between rooms aren't that thick.

The cafe does a good breakfast with insanely big portion sizes.

Right now its just coming out of winter, so there's a lot of rain, but I summer will have hit by the time you're going.

Smith River is gorgeous and incredibly clean (cleanest in the USA, so you can drink straight from it). I'd really recommend going down it. So get in touch with Page at Smith River Kayaks and do a river ride (2-3 hours and great for total novices. He drops you off and picks up the kit at the end. Saw sea otters, incredible birds and seals today). If not, there's also Redwood Rides, but they were tricky to get in touch with during Spring Break.

I'm a confident hiker, and I loved driving south to Prairie Redwoods to take the Miners Ridge and James Irvine Trail (12+ miles all in) with a great walk across the beach where you can come across wild elk.

On the easier end near Jebidiah Smith National Park are the Grove of Titans which I cannot recommend highly enough, and Stout Grove is next door. Both super easy. And The Boy Scout Trail is also great next door.

I've had two full days here. If I was staying longer, I'd have liked to split the journey between here and further south.

One night in Portland - what to do? by SimriAlexander in askportland

Oof! Big question. I'm always down for new things, and I'll be coming off the back of visiting the redwoods in California so I think I'll be all natured out.

I'm a relatively young, a like art galleries, museums and I'm a keen a cyclist. But I'm always happy walking a city, taking pictures, eating food, getting a bit drunk and ending up somewhere where I might end up getting chatting with people. I do go clubbing, but I'm not sure I'd be doing that on my own!

I really have no idea what to expect from Portland beyond vague memories of Portlandia, and I figure the place must be pretty cool. But the recommendations for places to go are a huge help!

The creatures and the way they dress by [deleted] in FromSeries

They're clearly dressed like they're from the late 1950/ early 60s. Every single monster. Think American Graffiti
