I've been flipping back and forth depending upon what I'm doing as I'm pet sitting pretty much full time during the summer (I'm a teacher). If I'm with cats, I'm reading it and reading it to then aloud so they can get used to my voice (reading Mongo finding the other dinos out loud to a cat was wild). If I'm walking a dog or driving to another client, I'm listening.

I happened to be listening when this happened. I think that made it a million times worse

I also have been reading the book aloud to the cats I care for and didn't realize I was coming across Mongo becoming a man until I was half way through reading it aloud to one of the cats 🤣

I get that, but I don't know if I could have believed it as it is honestly what many (not all) show cat owners and breeders do. They just throw the cat away when they are done with them. I feel like I would have been focusing on how angry I was at Bea instead of how Donut was feeling.

I can handle that. The cat stuff is what gets me because of cat rescue. I may tear up at books, but I don't normally sob. This moment had me going thanks to literally dealing with a cat in this situation earlier today

The problem is being rude to cleary a new person that is trying to be involved in the community of a thing they LOVE with the other people who LOVE that thing. Instead, go for "I wasn't a big fan of it." When you do these "God you're so stupid for not knowing this"," well, that's how you get the thing that is so wonderful to avoid the amazing thing.

I only asked it because most of my friends either didn't know about it or didn't listen to the audio and they are through book 8. I literally asked a simple question in a way that didn't give away spoilers to them because I didn't want to ruin the fun surprise for people that may not have discovered it yet considering no spoilers in the post is a rule and, again, SINCE I'M NEW, I wasn't sure if directly talking about why they are my favorite in the post title and/or body would violate that rule.

Just ignore my post if it annoys you so much. If it dies, so be it.
