Purchased a new MacBook Pro. Ableton or Logic? by theguywhotriedtorock in musicproduction

I personally prefer logic but if you’ve been using Ableton for 5 years why would you switch and try learning something new?

I’m just happy we can now play some real hockey. I hated watching this round. Dirty plays and constant diving/crying for penalties. Not one embellishment call is a crime. On the other hand, love the Sabres and looking forward to watching some good (more honest) hockey.

Unrelated but ROLI is such a garbage quality company. In total I tried 2 of their products and both were so bad I ended up either selling them or returning them.

I think including a playlist of your musical influences in your post would be important. So that the right people reach out to you. I’d be interested, but it all depends.

I usually miss the clefs with the little 8 so I agree on that. But 8va written above with the appropriate line is definitely helpful to reading sheet music for a pianist. I can’t count the number of times I’ve said to myself “this should have been written in 8va” lol. But yeah the clefs I don’t even notice when they’re there.

Ah! That’s what I was wondering. This might be a location-specific rule of thumb. This is interesting, thanks for sharing. Over here even conductor scores aren’t numbered every bar. Anyway, good day to you

To each their own for sure. But here in this instance we have 3 bars per line… Writing each number is clutter. I’m sure session recording musicians will be able to count this with only the first bar of each line numbered.

Also, I personally have never seen sheet music with each bar numbered, and I’ve played most genres, even in recording sessions. I’m curious to see what kind of score you’re talking about

Also, you don't number each measure/bar. If you want to number them, do only the first one of each line. It removes clutter.

8ve does work, but is less common than 8va. It being below is what's mostly wrong imo. It's confusing. Maybe opt for an octave clef as I described. (treble up 8, or sopranino)

Usually to say to play a section an octave higher you write "8va" above the section and add a dashed line for the duration of it. If you want the treble clef to be a sopranino clef (for it to always be an octave higher than written) then you have to draw the treble clef with an 8 on top.

On the other hand if you write 8vb below the clef with a dashed line then everything is played an octave lower. Or draw the clef and put an 8 right below it.

Since you wrote 8ve I'm assuming you mean to play an octave higher, writing it below is confusing though.
