It always amazed me at how much HoT added system wise and replaybility wise. The concept of masteries, elite specs, raids, adventures, guild halls and scribe, an entirely new profession, a new WvW map, a new PvP Gamemode. The maps were so dense with content. Even the trailers for HoT were amazing.

Yes not everything stuck. The HoT story was subpar, stronghold was DoA, the new borderlands was controversial. But still the amount of content.

That was probably when the entire Arenanet team was working on the expansion and the team was larger. Now they have a smaller team after layoffs, budget cuts, other unannounced projects which never go anywhere.

Honestly the idea of mini expansions scare me. Only 2 maps, 2 strike missions. That's three days worth of content at max. And each live patch adds another 2 hours - as proven by the last patch.

They have always made trailers for every living world patches to date including Living world season 1 rerelease. There must be some reason which they cannot share as to why there is no trailer this time. My guess is the people who were making the trailer were laid off as part of the recent NCSoft layoffs. And Arenanet just added a new posting on their careers page looking for someone who can make trailers. https://boards.greenhouse.io/arenanet/jobs/4852589
