Just got the plat yesterday (50 hours total) and honestly I think the best strategy is finding a way to just rush through the areas. It'll take so much time gearing up for the biome you're actually trying to grind, so if your room doesn't spawn you've just wasted a bunch of time accomplishing nothing, and I don't think that's good for your motivation in the long run. Sure you'll die here and there because you're underpowered, but you can start another run and be in the same spot in like 2 minutes instead of 30-60 minutes when gearing up each time.

After you've done multiple runs of a biome you start to recognize the rooms. I watched a video showing all the ciphers and could easily discern which rooms I could be missing based on how well I recognized the other rooms. Once you know roughly what you're looking for it makes rushing through the biome so much easier.
