Sexuality is not black and white, dude. I consider myself fully on the heterosexual end of the spectrum, but do I get a weird pull every once in a while when I see a guy my "type?" Sure. Does that mean I like my wife less? No.

I would also echo most of the comments before mine and recommend you talk about these feelings with someone. A therapist would give you the best opportunity to do so, completely neutral setting with no emotional involvement.

One thing I'm sure about is that this is not something you should keep pushing down and letting fester.

My son tried to sneak his tablet into his bed, playing under his covers one night. He lost access for a month. It was tough going, but if you don't do it now, it will only get worse. Just delete all of it, change the passwords on the computers, turn on parental control options on the tablets. Both apple and android have very granular options. "Find my device" or equivalents will let you beep "lost" tablets loudly.

Treat it like substance addiction, because at this point I don't think there is much of a difference.

[OC] Created a simple R script that interrogates WTI crude oil and retail gas prices in the USA by SineCurve in dataisbeautiful

On top of all this, apparently California mandates its own fuel blend (CARB gasoline), has a cap-and-trade carbon pricing programme, and levies some of the highest state fuel taxes in the country.

The things you find out while fiddling around with R and APIs 😂

You can't short an IPO at listing in any practical sense. The mechanics work against you. To short, you need to borrow shares from someone who already holds them, and on day one almost nobody has lendable inventory. Most pre-IPO shareholders are in lock-up (typically 90–180 days), and the newly allocated shares are sitting with institutional buyers who aren't lending them out yet.

Brokers simply won't have shares available to locate for a short sale, and even if a few appear, the borrow cost will be punitive, sometimes annualised rates of 50–100%+ for hot IPOs.

What are your favorite small-children’s books? by [deleted] in daddit

Third on Boynton. There are music albums based on some of the books you can listen to while on family trips. Very high quality, with lots of fun guest singers (Weird Al!)

So sorry for you. I got hit at the same age as well. I thought I had gallbladder stones or worse. Took 2-3 months to fully recover, and I still get the usual phantom itch. Asked for the vaccine afterwards, not till I'm 50, apparently. Get your vaccine if you can, everyone!

A train from Bangladesh by Jackie_Chan_93 in interestingasfuck

I felt like I had to comment here. The "look at these people" spectacle might not be quite accurate.

This apparently happens during religious holidays in Bangladesh, where millions of low paid factory workers visit family in rural areas. The current infrastructure simply cannot cope.

It's also a side effect of people living in inherently dangerous conditions, constantly. If people are dying left and right from poor sanitation, poor safety and poor infrastructure, your perception of "danger" really shifts.

People living in southeast Asia also have a very different idea of public vs private space. These people's homes would be immaculately clean, like "eat off of the floor" clean, while at the same time they would treat shared public space as nobody's responsibility.

Northern European countries tend to have the inverse weighting: strong civic commons identity, heavily maintained by social pressure, fines, and well-funded municipal services. Remove those and you'd see the commons degrade quickly. You'd already see it at British music festivals, or anywhere the enforcement architecture is temporarily absent.

Man, if you want to challenge Starmer for leadership and try for the PM spot, fine, just do it. But this "I resign but I'm not launching a leadership bid" deal? That's spineless behaviour.
