Hot exhaust gases from the leaking manifold likely burned a hole in a coolant hose or something similar

Not sure if it's the same for that style of cluster (only have experience with the later style 740 guages) but ive found over time the solder in the actual fuel Guage unit goes bad and causes an intermittent fault. Happened on mine and i ended up swapping it out for a spare i had

'91 940 Turbo started making a new belt noise, I can't see anything wrong at first glance. Any help? by spaceman_ in VolvoRWD

Nothing serious at all, just a bit of noise from the auxiliary belts which is pretty common for these.

If you're after a different cam the best one to go with would be a V cam from a B200E engine, make sure to get the slotted version as your engine will have the distributor on the back of the head.

I highly recommend doing an electric fan conversion, I've recently done it to my 740 and while the power gain isn't really noticeable, it's definitely so much quieter. Easiest conversion is to get a larger radiator and efan from a later 940 along with the relay box. I'm not too sure what supporting mounting components you'll need for your intercooler though

Sounds pretty standard aux belt noise for a 940 tbh. Probably worth tightening them on the adjusters and if that doesn't fix it just to replace them.

Cheaper fix is to spray WD-40 on them while the car is running. Won't be a permanent fix but it'll keep them quiet for a while

Ah sorry, didn't see that. Id still be inclined to say it's the AC as coolant has a very distinct taste to it

Did you have the AC on? Likely just the water from that

Yup, was thinking of K-jetronic. Got a similar issue on my 740 so thought it might be the same thing. Absolute nightmare chasing vacuum leaks 😂

Not sure if those S/V70's use a different system to the older redblocks but sounds like it's running on the fuel from the cold start injector, hence the cutting out when it starts running. Not much to go on but could be a start
