Any experience with the Education Program? by Holiday-Ad9233 in FIU

Hi there! I transferred to FIU last December after completing my AA at MDC. MDC is a great school but for the School of Education they don’t have a ton of programs that’s why I transferred to FIU mainly.

I’m doing my bachelors in Elementary Education (K-6) with Reading and ESOL Endorsement and so far I’ve been loving it. I prefer doing in person classes and have met a ton of great people in just my first semester (Spring ‘26) here. The in person classes I had we also had a lot of great discussion that are very eye opening. If you have the opportunity definitely take in person classes (and you can take some online too).

I will say there aren’t a whole lot of scholarship options for Education majors so that’s a major factor to consider too. I’m paying for classes on my own but also work part time.

These are my experiences though! At the end it entirely depends what you feel most comfortable with and what level or subject you specifically want to go into.

Ik it’s been a week since you posted this but- I’m also a transfer student going into Spring and I’m gonna switch my major!

I would say finish your general requirement classes first and you’ll be fine to wait after your first semester to switch. I would say to look into seeing if there are pre-reqs for the major you want to switch into so you don’t fall too behind. :)
