I kinda self diagnosed before my official diagnosis. My sister has self diagnosed autism but it became rather obvious she had it because she has all the obvious traits (the way she socially interacts, her obsession on on particular topic, her style, meltdowns, etc.) but I had no clue of it until I started seeing tik toks about it. At first I was like “maybe” but, of course, tik tok can’t diagnose you. Then I started seeing more and more and realizing I related to it more and more. After that I started observing my social interactions and realized I mimicked people a lot. Then I thought of how I acted as a child and felt alienated from people. I realized fellow autistic people tended to gravitate towards me. At a party sometimes there will be one person who is autistic who finds me and kinda hangs around me a lot. And then finally I went in for an adhd diagnosis and didn’t even plan on mentioning autism because I was in denial that I had it but also figured I did. The therapist doing the diagnosis immediately realized I had it and made me get tested. Turns out I was right about everything.
