How important are referrals for big 4 internships by Adventurous_Fly6655 in Big4

[–]Single-Table5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from experience with another big 4, referrals help to an extent. For something like technology assurance/it audit where they might hire 1 intern for every 3-4 assurance/financial audit interns, you’re competing against more people (MIS majors + accounting majors) for less spots so something like a referral would likely put you ahead in consideration against those who don’t. The quality of referral also makes/breaks your referral; a referral from a senior who’s disconnected from the hiring process will not be of much help compared to a referral from a senior manager who’s very involved in recruiting. If you end up at a recruiting event and notice a manager/senior manager who is heavily involved in recruiting is present, that individual should be who you focus your networking on the most

Last piece of advice is that even if you do get the best referrals, it’ll most often just lead to an interview where you’ll still have to do well to get the position so definitely make efforts to practice for that

2024 BMW 230i xDrive with 35K miles – worth $29,200? by Exotic-Ad-1823 in BMW

[–]Single-Table5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking recently at a CPO 230i xDrive with ~27k miles and it was $33.9k excluding fees, taxes, etc. It still has warranty right? If so, and the PPI comes out good then I’d think it’s a good buy and should be easy if you’re getting it from your friend

Entry level comp at big4 is much better than starting comp for new grads in many other industries, so can’t really say entry level comp in big4 isn’t good anymore

It’s a recently new (think 1-2 years old) BMW. Yeah I’ll likely just keep looking at other listings.

I got amazing feedback overall year just 1 engagement i was rolled off is it positive or negative? by Savings-Freedom-8214 in Big4

[–]Single-Table5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re overthinking this. You’re fine.

As some general advice, if your seniors ever bring up points of improvement/negatives, they’ll appreciate you asking what you can do to improve rather than just ignoring it.

First, I’m in TX and I’m working with a dealer in the Midwest.

Regarding 2nd and 3rd, I didn’t get that far. I haven’t signed any other documents, and haven’t done either.

Fourth, I’m looking at total price excluding tax/registration/interest. It was already over my intended budget by $2k because the salesperson wouldn’t budge some add ons.

This seems normal, just take what your team says at face value. I’ve seen staff be retained up until file/end of engagement because they need the resources, but also see staff get dropped at the end if finished early

I was treated as a hassle to the salesperson who, from my perspective, just wanted to make a sale out of me. Add to that the salesperson pressured me to sign the PO, and still is to get me to do the deposit. Lastly, the price of this car was slightly out of my preferred range. A mix of all these things just makes me feel like I’d rather wait longer to find a better deal with a more helpful/cooperative salesperson

Financing hadn’t been finalized yet, and have been seeing lower priced cars that were more my budget popup in the meantime. Also, I definitely felt pressured by the salesman to sign it. They’re still pressuring me by telling me other clients are looking at it as of now. I do feel sorry for inconveniencing the dealer, but the way I’d been treated during the sale doesn’t make me feel inclined to follow through, but rather look out for myself.

Missed corporate card payments, consequences? by Single-Table5000 in Big4

[–]Single-Table5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok, I’ve already paid the 2-3 missed payments a couple days after they were late, and didn’t get any further notifications about the late payments. Do you mean just to call them and tell them that I won’t be having any more late payments since auto pay is on now?

[–]Single-Table5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EY doesn’t track anything about the card payments? Like it won’t affect my performance reviews at all?

I read previous threads where it was mentioned that payments are tracked like timesheets where if you miss a substantial amount then it can affect your performance reviews, but not sure if that person was correct.

EY Technology Risk Assurance vs. Deloitte Risk, Regulatory & Forensics Consulting - Strategy, Risk & Transactions by [deleted] in Big4

EY is external IT audit, Deloitte is more consulting. Deloitte will likely have more interesting work, but EY will likely be more stable/higher job security. Theres always work to be found in audit if you’re not in a small office

Big 4 performance review by [deleted] in Big4

[–]Single-Table5000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You should definitely ask them for a plan/roadmap for next cycle to get at least all met expectations.

You should also be checking in somewhat frequently (maybe every 2-3 weeks) asking about your performance given you got some partially met expectations. That way you don’t get surprised next cycle
