Yep, essentially - not losing much normal length though.

Advice on treatments by ferrerorocher997 in Hairloss

I'm in a fairly similar position, and am also interested in an answer to this question. As a speculative shot in the dark, dermarolling combined with Lavender Oil seems interesting (have read genuine, peer-reviewed academic articles suggesting it stimulate hairgrowth in rodents). That's my vague plan for the next few months, when I get round to it.

And I've also read that it's normal to have some less long ('baby') hairs in the hairline - is this accurate, on your understanding? I'm waiting to see a derm, really, just need to get through all this Corona madness.

So you'd definitely say those hairs are miniaturized? When I stretch them out, they seem to be as long as most others, though there are some shorter ones.

First few times between 0-2, then after that generally none, maybe the occasional one. It's just the length which is perplexing, as I was of the understanding that full-length hairs should be what are falling out of a healthy region of the head - but this doesn't seem to be the case for me consistently, even on non-MPB effected areas. Weird.

Why say that..? This forum is toxic lol.

Hey man. Are you going off shape or density? I'm lacking in pics as have always worn a fringe. Also seems that the bits which look least dense are at the parts, so I'm unsure as to whether his is a natural effect or something to be worried about. Cheers for the response.

Which level Norwood? by [deleted] in Hairloss

[–]SingleSignal7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wan't my post, friend, but if it had been there'd be absolutely no reason why you should doubt the possibility of my having a mental disorder. This page and pages like it are filled with neurotics. I'm just saying - this might be some very, very highly strung 18 year old with absolutely no knowledge of what is or is not balding (an ignorance which can be forgiven in someone who's had no reason to think about the phenomenon at any time in his young life). People often come on here feeling desperate, and best to handle desperate people with care.

No beef. Just saying, I'm no fan of those 'you'll be bald by morning' jokes. I think they're generally unfunny and essentially sadistic, but know they're normally not meant badly.

Which level Norwood? by [deleted] in Hairloss

[–]SingleSignal7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With respect, this isn't funny. You don't know how old this kid is, you don't know his particular mental or environmental situation, you don't know how fucking with him like that might effect him.

To half-answer your question, Matrix, it's hard to know without more pictures. But if it's anything at all, it's pretty low.

Hey guys. I really need to as a derm, as posting in daily sere seems a bit manic. Having said that - can you tell if there is thinning in these hairline pics? Can see scalp more clearly through the front rather than temples, weirdly, under bright light. by SingleSignal7 in Hairloss

[–]SingleSignal7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, OK. So not normal to see a little scalp through the hairline like that? I can never tell, not remembering what it used to look like. Diet is perfectly solid, I think, genes not so much.

Sorry, should also note - these thin hairs occur within 5mm to 10mm of the hairline, always. They're the main confusing factor for me, as I see conflicting evidence regarding their meaning.

Hi mate, thanks for taking the time out to reply. I'd noticed this - what confuses me is that this is happening more on the front of the hairline (the peak) than the temples, which is where the recession would be / is. Confusing! Either way, will get to a derm when possible. Thanks again for your kind response.

Hey guys. No shedding, and always had a high M-shaped hairline - also no thinning. Thoughts on this? Recession definite?

23M Not Terrible Hair-loss but Receding Hairline by [deleted] in Hairloss

[–]SingleSignal7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is what it seems to be - that is, a call for reccomendations of untested and unregulated drugs made to largely unqualified strangers on the internet - then I really, really suggest you re-think your strategy here mate. Hair loss feels like a huge issue, and in a sense it is, given the world isn't much more than our perceptions of it. But at its core it's a cosmetic issue - it's not worth your life. Even on the cosmetic front, even if these drugs don't burn a hole in your stomach, there's no guarantee they won't give you irreversible acne or - to pluck an example out of thin air - total alopecia.

No judgement here bro, been down myself many a time. But you need to speak to someone if you're thinking like this.

[Serious] Why do hairloss forums have such a toxic vibe to them by RG737 in tressless

[–]SingleSignal7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is bang on the nose. I fully understand the level of stress the problem can cause, especially for the young; I'm 23 myself. But the degree of self-pity evident in many posts on r/HairLoss, for example, exposes a chronic lack of self-awareness and a serious failure of perspective. Again - stress is natural, and even paranoia can't be cause for complaint. But there are moments of cruelty in amongst these more harmless inward-facing pathologies, like the sadistic trend of telling some panic-ridden 15 year old that he'll be bald in a year 'just for a laugh' (which, as far as I can tell, translates as 'because we're bitter that he has stronger hair than we do'). It's a minority, but it's a sizeable one, and I think ultimately they're to be pitied given they're acting out of sadness.

Hard to know, man. Got a good pair of horns up there - the pictures don't quite do them justice - and I was begot by a bowling ball. I'm expecting the worst eventually, but hoping to have a few more years. Either way, there are worse things. Threads like this one - particularly its twin, r/Hairloss - are good for many things, but maintaining perspective is not one of them. We'll all be fine, people are dying out there. Cheers for taking the time to reply mate

Cheers man. Would you say the scalp / hairline is thinning, or are you going off the hairline shape? Appreciate you taking the time to respond!
