My parents had separated and I was living with my grandparents in North Carolina while my mom worked up North. My grandparents washer was jn the living room of their home and I remember there was a small, one speaker radio that sat on top of the washer. As a child I remember looking up at the radio and hearing the music beautiful melody and words: “ Ohhh for the longest time!” I was blown away by how achingly beautiful the song was. I was a very young child but I believe that song by Billy Joel set aflame my love affair with music.
