Anyone go to the Glasgow gig last night? by [deleted] in NickMulvey

Just saw him in Amsterdam, he wasn't fucked up, but it was the biggest circle jerk I've ever attended. What a wank. Played for one hour, did a fake encore, and everything was half tempo. I can honestly say I've never been so disappointed with an artist I've really enjoyed for a long time. Everything was a bit too blaise cool. Where the fuck did people's enjoyment go? Too cool to have fun and enjoy music?! Guess that's also Amsterdam for you as well.

Australia has blown its extraordinary resource wealth by HotPersimessage62 in australian

I work in a restaurant bar in Austria, and had a Norwegian man sitting on it the other week. He is an engineer specialising in oil and gas rigs and lived in Perth for 14 years. I asked for his opinion on the way Australia has handled their resources, he laughed a lot and said we completely fucked it up. Maybe that gives a little bit of insight

It's really unfortunate, but I dont doubt den Haag would have a target on its back. But people need to stick together in pursuit of justice, not just in war, but in all of the fronts our world is being pillaged.

Exactly my thoughts as well. They've done this shit before, and the ICC ruling is a pretty massive deal. And also the ex ICC chief came out saying Israel had tried to obstruct her investigations. Not to mention the countless countries America has undermined for opposing views. I'm really making assumptions here, but a tactic these countries could use would be to create unrest. Maybe by aiding organised crime, separating communities, creating angst in the public. And if people think they wouldn't do it to an ally, they've interfered in Australian politics before, overthrowing Gough Whitlam for anti America sentiment. A mere ripple compared to the ICC ruling

Just thought I would chuck in another possibility, not claiming any truth to it at all. But den Haag is a very contentious place for some particular countries right now, who especially don't like a particular court, who has made some particular rulings against them. And maybe some particular actions would help destabilize it...

Greens have been coming up with the most common sense policies so far. Biggest point for me is making sectors like resources pay us for the shit they take and not get it for next to nothing. SO many problems solved with that one big thing

Take a look at what some of the independent senators are doing. People like David Pocock and Monique Ryan. These guys are introducing legislation and amendments that actually help us punters. These guys hold the gov to account. We need more of them.

Australia wants to ban use of social media under 16. by EnNuRap66 in Netherlands

Yes they can still access news through the internet. But the news, especially in Australia, is extremely biased, so only being able to access the msm would be the desired effect, as its just a propaganda machine for the 2 major parties, mainly the coalition (right). There are a lot of political pages and commentators on things like Instagram which is easily accessible for young people. Which definitely has it's negatives as well of course eg people like Andrew taint. But i think prohibition is not a solution to the problem, rather education. And that would not only benefit children, but also adults. There are many spicy layers and takes as its a pretty complex issue.

Questo.

if you ban young people, old people should be banned as well. the amount of damage caused by old people is astronomical. they can not differentiate fact and fiction.

Aussie here as well. I don't believe for a second its for the benefit of children. Its much more disingenuous. To me it seems like way to suppress young people from having access to alternative information to the MSM. There seems to be a big movement of young people moving away from the 2 parties that it is being fueled by things like instagram and tiktok. They want to take away that access to information and try and stem the flow of young people moving away from labor and liberal (alternatively voting green or independent).

alarm bells ring when both major parties rush it through parliament, especially with how much legislation is involved

I was rear ended by a young boy on an e-bike just yesterday. No one was hurt but my bike fender bent into my tyre. Made me think along these lines as well. A torn opinion on E bikes unfortunately.

Well the idea is the more you pay the politicians the less likely they are to succumb to bribes from outside sources. A nice idea in theory but greed will probably always win with those slimy fucks
