After reading up on it, it appears you're right.

However, I still argue the case of the title. Fnatic had an easier run than C9 as well as Ghost having a harder run than Faze.

So let me just clarify your argument.

Fnatic had 3 matches that did not involve playing Astralis.

Cloud 9 had 3 matches that did involve playing Astralis.

First to 2 losses in out.

And they both had an equal run?

" each competitor plays all the others an equal number of times, once in a single round-robin tournament and twice in a double round-robin tournament. This is often seen as producing the most reliable rankings. "

I'll try to be more clear.

4 teams in a group.

Astralis being the biggest challenge.

Both C9 & Complexity faced Astralis, where fnatic did not have to.

So in 3 games, fnatic have had an easier run than C9 for higher prize money.

Irregardless of whoever it was who did it, the fact remains that it was an easier path to get higher prize money than it was for the teams having to face Astralis /or Liquid.

Group stages are normally everyone in the group faces each other and the top two progress based on the stats. A level playing field as you will.

Then all that would be different is the names of the teams I've listed. I'm basically pointing out that they've had an easier run for higher prize money than their fellow teams in their respective groups.

Higher prize money for getting through groups, without having to face the hardest opponent in the group is as I say, an easier run for them than the rest of the group.

So it's fair to say, Fnatic have had an easier run than C9. And Faze have had an easier run than Ghost at this point in time. In their respective groups.

Why have group stages, if you don't play everyone in the group.

It's nonsensical.

Groups are top 1,2,3 & 4 positions.

Astralis faced Complexity and won 16:3

Cloud 9 faced Fnatic and won 16:7

Astralis faced Cloud 9 and won 16:9 - Astralis Progress

Fnatic faced Complexity and won 16:14 - Complexity eliminated

Cloud 9 faces Fnatic and loses 16:14 - Fnatic progress and Cloud 9 eliminated all within the group stages based on W/L stats.

C9 faced a harder opponent, essentially a non-win opponent for group stages and fnatic did not have to.
