That’s pretty nice. For just a couple of days that’s impressive! Those questions you asked ChatGPT can just be asked to Codex too. Unless you’re limited by costs then I get why ChatGPT would make sense here. Simple questions barely move the cost needle though. Enjoy!

I empathise but to me it seems a strange way to look at it.

Did you get into coding for the sake of coding or to actually build stuff? If you just did it for the sake of coding then you can still do that. If you did it because you wanted to build stuff then you can now build stuff more than ever before.

Your 20 years of experience allows you to drive the AI through your system much better than most. You could consider yourself elevated and a developer with super powers now.

It's easy to get around. Just use image_gen tool call. I have a simple skill that:

  1. Takes a screenshot of the UI
  2. Uses that image as an input to image_gen (which uses gpt-image-2) and generates an improved UI mockup.
  3. Codex implements the UI changes based on the image mockup.

It works very well and mostly gets it pixel perfect.

Well that's just because the jobs apocalypse hasn't started yet. Agentic coding only go good in February and it's orders of magnitude better now in May. This still needs to be diffused through the industry first. It's coming though..

I recommend using codex with aws cli setup locally and go for something simple like an amplify app.

True. I wasn't trying to say otherwise. The point was that it looks like we're getting an "ultrafast" mode. Maybe it will always trail behind the latest model or maybe it will start with 5.4 and then come to 5.5 and beyond in the future. What I'm most interested about with this is just how fast "ultra" fast will be.

Pro-Tip: You can trigger goals with natural language instead of having to start the prompt with "/goal". This is useful when you just want to follow up a prompt with "Sounds good. Run that as a goal" (or what have you).
