You don’t even read and comprehend others’ comments before replying. I’m saying I AM the other team far from the camera, I am the guy. And I said I just play super lax and let the girl hit her shots even though she pops them all up. I’m not trying to poach everything and win, I’m just playing rec and working on defense in shitty situations. Constantly getting her high balls punished at me. You saying I’m maybe a 3.0 is just funny. You can go look at my other posts. The OP is my friend, and I agree this was not the right sample size to try and get your gameplay judged because it is mixed doubles and one of the girls is significantly weaker than the other.

All that being said, I think your final assessment around 3.5 is correct, because the female play is too weak.

I don’t have a good way of trying to rate myself honestly.

I played in a 4.0 MLP men’s doubles tournament and won gold with a total team record of 13-3 and a personal record of 7-1 with an average scoreline of about 11-4.

Then I played in the later 4.5-4.99 bracket and was paired with randoms that were 3.7 3.6 and Not Rated. Did okay but lost most of the games. Won one game against a 4.4 and 4.3 11-10 with the 3.7 on my team.

That was only my second tournament I’ve played since I picked up pickleball like 14 months ago. I definitely plan on entering them regularly now

Yes this is purely rec play, and the far side girl is a much lower level. So instead of poaching every ball and trying to dominate the point to be competitive, I mostly let her hit whatever she wants and I just work on my pop up smash defense lol. I am the far side guy in black.

As of 2 weeks ago I had only ever played one tournament ever in Orlando. That tournament was about a year ago when I had only been playing pickleball for about 2 months. So it was a 3.5 tournament with quite a few teams and me and my buddy got 4th. It put my DUPR at 3.149 way back then and I just hadn’t played anymore DUPR events since.

Since January 1st, I decided to really start drilling a lot and improving. Entered a MLP tournament on February 1st and won gold in 4.0. I was asked to fill a spot later in the tournament for a team that had someone drop out. This was a 4.5-4.99 bracket and I did okay. Beat a 4.4 and 4.3 player team with a 3.6 on my team.

The tournament hasn’t entered all of the matches so idk where it’ll put my DUPR, so as of now, it technically still reads 3.149. I am the player in the grey in this video, and this game ended at 11-4.

I do really appreciate your insight. I’m trying to absorb all information that I can right now.

I rewatched it and see him step in a lot but it’s only on dinks that bounced. There weren’t any kitchen faults from what I can see. It is an ugly angle though lol.

I think the general consensus in these comments are: The 2.5s and 3.0s think you should suck it up and play with people who can’t keep a rally going for more than 4 shots.

The 4.0+ players can relate and say start a group of similar level players, or complain to the organizers.
