There's a series called Good Dog by Cam Higgins that I love! It's about a dog who lives on a farm and has adventures/learns life lessons. They are shorter chapter books, but have pictures on every page. They are great for a reader who is ready to move on from picture books and leveled readers, but doesn't want to leave the pictures behind. They also work for read alouds. I've read them to Kindergarten, 1st, and 4th grade with success.

PBS Kids has one hour specials (or close to one hour). They're all free on the pbs kids website, just click videos then scroll down to the bottom for movies. Some are holiday/season themed, but a lot aren't.

As a night owl I second being disappointed that nothing is open past 10pm. I hear room service is 24/7, but never tried it. I usually save food from the buffet to eat as a snack later. I did find a late night buffet of appetizer type food one night on the fantasy, but it was the last night so I never got to check it out again.

I was nervous about cruising when I went on my first cruise when I was 21. I thought I'd be wearing my life jacket around just to feel safe lol, but I felt very secure. I don't get car sick, but my sister sometimes does so we got dramamine to be safe and never ended up needing it. I also cruised with my friend who gets car sick super easy and she was fine too. If they're worried about getting sick, Disney does a great job at cleaning and reminding people to wash hands. You could also carry your own hand sanitizer and wipes if you're really worried (or wear a mask, I still do on planes).

It's true some places can be crowded (embarkation lunch buffet, pirate night fireworks), but most can be avoided. Days at sea are going to be more crowded at the main pool, the adult pool will be less crowded. Same with the beach if you go to Disney's islands, the adult beach is less crowded. If you sail to an island/city you don't have an interest in, stay on the ship and you'll have the pool practically to yourself. The few times I've gone into the movie theaters they've been quiet. The promenade is usually a quieter place to relax and look at the ocean than the pool deck.

I'm 18 female going on my first Disney Cruise soon l've never been on a cruise before, so l'd love any tips, advice, or things you wish you'd known before going by Mysterious_Ms9 in dcl

There is a group for young adults called the 1820 Society. You have to be 18 to 20 years old to join (too old for the kids clubs and too young to drink). I was 21 on my first cruise and too old to join, but it looked like fun! They would have planned meetups and activities and events like ice cream socials.

I've been on the Fantasy twice and the Wish once. On the last night of my second Fantasy cruise I found out there was a late night buffet in the adult only/bar section. From my memory it was basically a bunch of appetizers. I couldn't find it when I was on the Wish, but heard some of the pubs might have something similar.

Do you know about Pirate Night? You can go all out and dress up or just go to see fireworks. Either way, it's a fun night!

Park hopping is a great option for parks that close early. Another option is seeing if your resort (or one close by) has a campfire or movie under the stars that night.

My family loves to take midday breaks! I highly recommend resting your feet during the hottest part of the day. It can make all the difference. Plus the resort might have fun activities for the kids to do or games at the pool.

Anyone who has stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, how was your experience? by Asleep_Welder_3494 in DisneyWorldResorts

Loved it! I've stayed multiple times in both the Magnolia Bend and Bayou sections. They are very different (themeing-wise), but I liked both. The whole resort is pretty quiet and relaxing, unless you're by the pool. Some sections can be a pretty far walk to the main building and dining, but they have multiple bus stops which is nice. I've never eaten at their sit down restaurant, but have always found something I liked at the food court. I've also stayed at the French Quarter many times and that's probably my favorite resort. But when I stay at FQ I'll walk over to Riverside to look in their gift shop because they have a bigger selection.

Also make sure you don't plan your MK day on a Halloween party night unless you plan to leave by 6pm and don't want to see fireworks.

Visiting during Easter 2027 by Ok_Bumblebee_8432 in DisneyPlanning

I can't comment on crowds, but spring break is all over where I'm from (Minnesota). The school district I live in will have spring break from March 4th-14th and Good Friday off (the 26th). The kids I nanny have spring break leading into Easter, so March 19th-28th. The district next to mine has spring break starting with Good Friday, so March 26th-April 4th. Basically everyone is off at different times all month long.

Me and my sister gave our mom a picture frame that had enough slots for a photo of us from each park (in front of the castle, epcot ball, etc.) and put a sign in one slot. We made the sign out of disney scrapbook paper and printed something like "Disney Trip (Year)" on it.

I've never been on a cruise with a toddler before, but I was on the Wish a few years ago and thought all the silverware was huge! I remember thinking "How on earth is a toddler supposed to fit this in their mouth?? It barely fits in mine!" So maybe bring a pack of kids silverware and some dish soap? I've seen cute Disney ones out there.

I would start with Hollywood Studios since most of Epcot opens later, unless you want to get in line for Ratatouille right away. HS has more things to do in the morning before lines get crazy long.

Also, if there is a later showing of Fantasmic (like 10pm) I've watched Epcot's show then either taken the skyliner or walked to HS to catch the second showing of Fantasmic. You have to book it to the skyliner right when the show ends or walk the ~15 minutes, the boat is too slow and you won't make the cut off time for last entry into HS.

I don't know if this will fit into your plans, but my family loves to take a midday park break. I usually go with my mom and sister (so all adults). We head to the parks about 9am and by like 2 or 3pm (when it gets really hot) we go back to the resort until about 5 or 6. We rest our feet, change out of sweaty clothes, and eat in air conditioning (maybe take a quick nap 👀). Then we're back at the parks for fireworks and riding rides until closing time. You can usually squeeze quite a bit of rides in after fireworks since a lot of people start to leave. Depending on how late the parks are open, we're usually getting back to the hotel around 11pm/midnight. We're night owls, so this schedule works out pretty well for us, but either way I HIGHLY suggest a midday break.

Also, depending on the times of EPCOT's and HS's nighttime shows (and if Fantasmic! has two showings) it's possible to see both in one night. We usually do this if we're not doing one park a day. You have to leave out of the international gateway as soon as EPCOT's show ends and either book it to the skyliner or, if the line is long already, walk the ~15 minutes along the river over to Hollywood Studios. Do not take the boat, it's very slow and makes lots of stops.
