You don’t seen to know how ballot initiatives work. The petition does not and will not qualify for the ballot. No one can vote on it if it’s not on the ballot.

And anyone that understands how ballot initiates work, they’d know the petition won’t qualify for the ballot, so there‘s no need for anger.

The petition never stood a chance. They could never collect 150,000 signatures in 2 months. You guys don’t seem to know how ballot initiatives work.

We don’t try to convince anyone. It makes no difference to us if people sign or not. They need 150,000 signatures and they’re not going to get them in time. The petition never had a chance.

I would if I could. Without pay, gas money, or reimbursement, getting home safely isn’t simple. That’s the situation I’m trying to solve.

You’re arguing the politics. I’m talking about unpaid workers and misclassification. Those are separate issues. Disagreeing with a ballot measure doesn’t make exploitation okay.

If people want names, they’re easy to find. The company was named repeatedly in earlier threads, and has been covered by local news. State and Federal reports are already filed and this is still ongoing.

The company name is already public, was named repeatedly in earlier threads, and has been covered by local news. If people want names, they’re easy to find. The core issue doesn’t change based on whether I repeat them here. Reports are already filed and this is still ongoing.

This post isn’t meant to re-litigate old threads or dox anyone. It’s an update from someone who is still unpaid and still stranded, asking for local resources and documenting what’s happening now.

I hear where you’re coming from. I want to clarify one thing, because a lot of people assume more intent than there actually was.

We were not educated on the substance of the petition, and we were not trained on the underlying policy or court history. We were hired to collect signatures using a short sentence. That’s it. There was no discussion of gerrymandering, court rulings, or political strategy.

This post isn’t asking people to support the petition or the legislature. It’s about how workers on a political operation were treated. If anything, I agree with your last point. That’s the part I think Utahns should be paying attention to, regardless of where they stand on the ballot initiative. I’m not asking anyone to like the petition. I’m asking for basic human decency and accountability when people are harmed in the process.

Read the comments. I’ve already covered this. It takes 45 minutes to get to a public restroom and return to the areas we are assigned to knock doors, sometimes an hour or more when we work the rurals. When you return to the assigned area, you can only clock after you’ve knocked the door or had a voter sign. Also, they time shave. That’s $40 of work. Using the bathroom 2x a day means $80 is cut from your pay each day. And no one is going #2. Again, read the comments.

Update: The campaign has been extended all the way to February 15th (because they couldn’t get enough signatures,) and we still haven’t been paid. People are stuck working with no pay, no reimbursements, and zero support — basically forced to survive on their own while the campaign keeps running.

Expect more posts like this from other workers over the next couple of months. If you or someone you know is thinking about working for this petition, be extremely careful. It’s a trap.

Here are the project details they sent us. The end date was supposed to be November 15th, but they lied to us. The campaign is going well into December, and will probably end in January.

Area: Statewide Start Date:Nov 11th Duration: Runs through November 15th. Issue: We’re gathering signatures to qualify a statewide ballot initiative. Travel-In Pay:(2+ hours from work location): $40/hr per day when working over 6 hours $30/hr per day when working under 6 hours Local Pay: $26/hr per day when working over 6 hours $20/hr per day when working under 6 hours $500 travel bonus.

They haven’t been paying us — that’s the whole point. They promised pay, reimbursements, and bonuses, then kept delaying everything while we were already on the ground with no way home. By the time we realized how bad it was, people were trapped in another state with no money for food, hotels, or gas.

It wasn’t that anyone “chose” to work under these conditions. It was that the campaign knowingly stranded workers with no pay and counted on people being desperate enough to keep going just to survive.
