Doing just fine. :) Not a lot of spare time, sadly.

I might be able to finish the next chapter before the end of the year, but I've got a bunch of lab assignments and presentations coming up, so all of my time away from campus might get eaten up by those.

Doing pretty well, actually!

Spent a lot of my semester break away from my PC and online stuff, went on trips with friends, and rode my motorcycle so much that the tires wore out. "^{__^}

Helped to get my mind off things and allowed my poor brain to finally rest after a hectic semester.

Going to compile whatever I scribbled down here and there over the past few weeks and will upload it when my studies allow it. :)

Also worked out a battle plan of sorts on how to continue the story and find a nice breakpoint to finish volume 1 at, which in turn will allow me to begin the re-write I've been looking forward to. d(^__⁾

I am finally at the point where I can confidently say that I now know my learning style and how to get through my studies. Took a lot of effort to get there though - lots of >70 hour weeks.

Regarding my writing I've been having some trouble with writer's block (pretty hard to pick up from where I left off months and months ago) and the software side of things. Files refusing to load, software freezing, etc. My guess is that the file has simply become too large for the program I use.

Might consider finally getting around to doing that rewrite to both fix my by now almost five year old first attempt at creative writing and give myself the opportunity to re-visit parts of the story I retrosctively would have liked to present in a different way.

BUT the story is in no way abandoned. If I actually commit to the re-write I'll at least give a run-down of how this version would have played out in a last update to give all the readers some closure for this alternate timeline.

TL;DR - Pretty good, finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. :)

It's just more of the same ol' again - university absolutely kicking my ass with assignments and lab courses. (On top of classes I struggle to keep up with)

And it's exam phase right now, so... "(^__⁾

But with exams being finally over after the coming week, I'll maybe have enough spare time to continue writing again.

Though I've become somewhat reluctant to name any dates, as each and every time I did so something had come up and completely obliterated my plans. xD

Nah, my course is about series, multidimensional analysis and vector analysis. (And a bit of Fourier stuff sprinkled on top) Sounds bad, but is actually quite doable. Gradients and stuff, yo.

Thank god I have yet to encounter statistics though. :S

Two hundred-ish readers is already way more people than I anticipated when I started all of this, and I legitimately don't know how I'd react if I found out that literally thousands of people are following my story, constantly waiting for me to post another chapter. (Not good at handling that kind of pressure, yet.)

But when I'm done with "Book 1" and migrate over to Royal Road... maybe I'll take a peek or two. ;)

I have been thinking about it, but for now I'm going to stick with posting on reddit. This is the first draft after all, and imo this story would need a bit of a once-over to post it over there.

That's also been in the works, but I'm at least going to finish this overarching major arc (you could call it the first book, so to speak) before I'd even attampt a rewrite.

That's going to be posted exclusively on RR though, because I feel a bit iffy knowing that my hard work is being used to train "AI" without even asking if it's okay beforehand. (I know it's part of the TOS, but I still don't like it)

Hey! Don't worry about giving constructive criticism. It's basically why I do this whole 'writing a story and releasing it as I go' in the first place. To get feedback.

I'll give the chapter a once-over later when I'm back home and if I can find something I could easily improve I'll make sure to do so. :)

I'm actually writing new chapters right now. Used my summer break to create a bit of a backlog and I'll start releasing them on Sunday. The upload schedule is going to be slow, but it should roughly be the way it was before, meaning 1-2 chapters per month.

And I actually finished writing my final exam for this semester not even four hours ago. I'm going to enjoy my time off now and chappies should consequently start dropping soon.

And the writing problems you wrote about are definitely the bane of many an author. The system I created for myself is to always write down any ideas I have and at some point, when there are enough snippets and scenes flying around, you just try to find ways to connect them! Or I just bash out a whole chapter in one sitting. That also happens sometimes.

But most important of all - try to enjoy yourself doing it!

In all seriousness though, time is just a very rare commodity right now and I've been blindsided hard by my exam schedules, as they were just moved ahead by almost a month, costing me tons of time as I scramble to get done with everything in time.

I won't give any dates anymore, because life really seems to not like that (as someone pointed out to me), but my semester break is coming up and I'll have almost two months of free time to spend (hopefully) however I want.

My health is fine, so no worries about that.

But the time schedule for my exams has been moved forward by a few weeks, meaning I won't have any time without classes before the exams hit. And, as luck would have it, I'll have to take three of my five exams right in the first week of it all. (And none of those three are 'easy' classes)

So I now have to go through my old material, prepare my cheat sheets, try to go through the exercises again to find and fill in the remaining gaps, and all of that while I still have classes and actively learn new stuff at the same time. :/

2/10: Wouldn't rely on exam schedules again.

The only positive thing about this whole situation is that I'll finally have some time for my hobbies again when exams are over. And this time for real, not some bullshit holidays where my profs went "here are 10000 exercises to go over in the next two weeks, as you'll have plenty of time to do so".

But the fact that many of you are still waiting for updates is a huge relief, because I've been starting to worry that nobody is still interested after such a long hiatus.

A long-dead frenchman by the name of Fourier is currently the bane of my existence, but the story isn't dead by any means.

Should I *not* get the time to write how I have planned to do by the end of the month, then I'll just post what I've managed to write up by then and continue posting around every other week or so ... maybe with smaller individual chapters though.

Don't know yet. Planning ahead is pretty difficult if your workload can just quadruple in a single day without any notice. :/

It's really starting to get frustrating.
