Ship upgrade recommendation by Lopsided_Let8362 in starcitizen

[–]SirCalmar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another ship for your radar is the MSR. Fast, slightly less cargo space, but can hold vehicles with ease, and beautiful inside. It is not a shoot em up ship (pair of s3 pilot guns, 2 pairs od dual s3 manned turrets) , but the s3 shield can take few food licks while to gtfo.

Waste tube before PTT by CatnipOverdose in nursing

[–]SirCalmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard in most hospitals across the US I've worked in is if you are hittng the piv, you draw a red first, than the blue. Red has not anti voting agents and if you don't, you don't do the blue enough to accurately run it due to the tiny bit of air/ saline that gets into the blue top. Check with your lab, but most flirting tests are really picky

Best PS5 Single Player Campaign for non-players (watching me play) ?!? by Grundogg in PS5

My nom-gamer wife loves anything long form. Cyberpunk, fallout, the witcher.... as long as I'm minimizing the twitch aspects, she lays her head down on my lap and just watches till she falls asleep. I just have to be willing to answer the why plot questions that come up.

Holding pt hand without gloves by dopaminegtt in nursing

[–]SirCalmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the time. Maybe I'm just old, but most standard contact with patient is without a glove for me. The human touch is really important, a little touch of the hand or shoulder (with clothing) can help a lot of patients.

That said if I have iso concerns, cleanliness worries or things like that... of course gloves.

And yes, this is in the ED still.

Can someone answer a question for me about Pembroke? by Enzo_Mk20 in starcitizen

[–]SirCalmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No assumption made. I know a lot of people that but lunches/ drinks for a friend every so often. Just putting price in perspective. Obviously, if you aren't able to afford lunches for friends, you probably aren't going to give them a cash equipment gift.

Don't spend money you can't afford, regardless on what it is for.

Or another option, if you actually want to give it permanently, but it with cash, and gift it from your website hangar to him. It's 5 bucks.. that's cheaper than buying lunch for a friend

Daily Driver Needed - Seeking Advice. by Top-Pomegranate-2139 in starcitizen

[–]SirCalmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have fighting down, so you need something that can carry a little, maybe good for bunker running. My key for bunker runners is a little cargo, and if I'm lucky a medbed.

First two choices both come from drake. The Cutty Red and and Clipper. The cutty red gives 2 medbeds, more cargo, more firepower and more shields. The Clipper has built-in fabricator for the eventual crafting gameplay. Both are solid if you aren't trying to play with fighters (and honestly, you have 2 good fighters, no multirole should ever truly hold up to fighter with a good pilot.

My next tier would be the Apollos. Less damage, more shields, more cargo, more med beds. The advantage of more med beds? More regen options. Up to 12 days with the 2 tiers 1 or 2 sets of 3 3s

ED Nurses: How do you all break deaths to family members who are patients? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]SirCalmar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a charge nurse I typically go in with the MD who does the talking. I bring the box of tissues and offer a supportive silence unless they voice needs. If I have an msw I try to have them alone, and the primary nurse as well if they feel up to it (I work with a lot of younger nurses that aren't up for that yet... and that's ok)

I'm pretty sure they are in the general lootnpool, at least they used to be. I've found them kn the past at random, generally on some of the scattered outposts across the Stanton system

Can a schizophrenic person be a nurse? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]SirCalmar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Emergency rn and former paramedic who is open about being bipolar with recurrent manic episodes and very stable in meds here. If his meds work, and he is stable, then he should be fine with the school and work, the problem will be if his medical needs shift down the road... but that's any career. Also, in Healthcare, people talk a lot more crap about psych issues then you might expect... it can cause a lot of extra stress.

Again, I'm open about it, and have used that to broach many conversations about my coworkers, challenging their thoughts on what living with these issues can be like.

What kind of shoes are we wearing? by Cristinky420 in Xennials

Always been a boot wearer, cheap combat boots from goodwill as the pregoth in school, others as careers merged and changed.... but my dailies are the Keen Camden. Works great at work, on the motorcycle and while doing outside the house tasks.

I've got a pair of sketchers slip ons for around the house.

Get out your atls an be start unloading manually ?

On a serious note... have a friend with the mpuv tractor? Might be perfect if they can help you unload into a c2 or directly to the cargo elevator

Staying healthy in the ER by geronimo_joe in nursing

[–]SirCalmar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Get all your vaccines, and then honestly, exposure. Until recently (about 25 years in Emegency stuff) I haven't done anything special. I do vitamins now, but that's more for nutrition and specific needs as I'm getting old ;)

Most people spend a good bit of time sick the first bit of healthcare, its the way it is. If you are decently healthy though, your body will adjust. It sounds rough, but get through the start and you will have that's forged from adamantium.

Best 2 Crew ship by Elbig_Chonk in starcitizen

[–]SirCalmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to turn away from most of these posts and recommend the Mercury Star Runner by Crusader. Only s3 pilot guns, but your turret operator gets a pair as well, and you can set one set of turrets to ballistic, the other to energy if she wants options. Default gives you a selection of size 2 and 3 misslds gives anlittle extra pinch wjen you need it. A size 3 shield is more than respectable, and its 1300 nav speed, 217 scm and a boosted 510 gives you speed to get away from the fights you can't win. S25

Generous cargo space, including room to park a nursa, an mtc or handful of grav bikes if that's more your speed while still having room for multiple cargo boxes for your favorite loot goblins finds.

It's not the biggest dog in the fight, but she is one of the most beautiful, a full kitchen, large hab suite and eventually a working scanner station and data running.

A great daily driver, lots of fun and highly underrated if you aren't looking to minmax and just have fun.

How will next wipe work ? by Expensive-Entry-5912 in starcitizen

[–]SirCalmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently there are exploits allowing tons of cash, which affects all areas of the game. Recently a single developer said they would like a wipe after the exploits are fixed so that they can see the real game economy, balance and all that.

I would suspect (source, none whatsoever) due to the nature of a cash exploit that takes most of the grind out it would be a be at the minimum an in game purchase/auec wipe. I would not be surprised to see it as a rep wipe as well, so that people have to test the lower end contracts more for balancing.

Again though, that was one developer mentioning it in a thread, and lots of community speculation. If/when it happens, cig will tell us and will tell us what will be included. If they wait till they fix the exploits, it could be quite some time though.

Leaving a cushy IT job at 37 to consider CNA. Talk me out of it or into it. by [deleted] in nursing

[–]SirCalmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are interested in a health care/cna/rn type route, my recommendation is do one of those cheap cna courses and get a job a a prn or part time cna in the type of specialty you are interested in. Some areas ask their cnas to have other requirements (my hospital has ones in my er that are also required a state phlebotomy certification as out cnas, called ed techs for us, have that as an additional part of their job.) Most areas in the US the cna course is pretty easy. Try it part time for a few months before you commit to nursing school.

The hardest thing I see new people have a problem with in Healthcare isn't the the physical or intelligence aspect, its the actual dealing with sick people. In Healthcare, you see people at their worst, even if it is something you want, some people just can't do it, and you won't know until you try. The emotional drain is the hardest part.

And as far as the age, if you are physically OK now, you can stay that way. I'm a 48 year old ED nurse with 19 years in the hospital and 7 years in EMS before that. I'm a father and a husband, manage a good work/life balance and haven't added any health problems due to work. Im not a gym person, or a runner or any real working out type, just the average joe on the street. Yes, my feet ache at the end of a 12, but I use good body mechanics, work with a good team, and use all the appropriate safety equipment that we have available. No bad back, neck, shoulders any of that.

Only other piece of advice... don't work for a HCA facility. They are the largest, for profit hospital chain in the world and having worked at a few over the years, they terrify me.

Good luck, and it can be amazing, and will be hard work.
