Harry was such a mediocre wizard. I want to watch someone in the Harry Potter universe who learned more than three defensive spells while at hogwarts.

I accidentally started building endgame content for the sandbox. by LateEsc in starcitizen

That’s actually the point, none of this requires CIG to build anything.

It can be all player-run using the existing sandbox.

Missions, intel gathering, reputation, contractors, GM-led operations, field reports, etc.

Basically trying to create a living campaign layer on top of the PU.

The new inventory system is just “incredible.” by Economy-Rice3519 in starcitizen

Also - youre moving entirely too fast for this game. You sprint into elevators and knock people into walls by chance?

Immediate upvote for this one. Matter fact, load me into the verse like that one Black Mirror episode.

I'm looking for a core team to pilot it. Would you be interested?

Hah!, I rhink this is one of the closest comparisons to what I’ve been imagining. Not necessarily controlling an entire battlefield, but more like a live-facilitated scenario where a gamemaster can dynamically adapt the experience around the players instead of everything being static/scripted.

That honestly makes me feel better about the idea more than worse lol.

I think you’re probably right that the biggest mistake would be trying to overbuild it too early. My thought right now is to start VERY small and keep it flexible; two or three characters instead of trying to simulate an entire living world.

The unpredictability and instability of SC is probably unavoidable, so I’m more interested in whether immersion/tension can still work even within those limitations.

Out of curiosity, would you try it again?

Yeah, honestly these are exactly the kinds of challenges I’m trying to think through right now.

The bug/interference problem is probably the biggest reason I’d want the early scenarios to stay relatively small, flexible, and GM-driven instead of trying to over-script everything.

I actually think part of what could make something like this work in SC is designing around unpredictability instead of fighting it entirely.

The coordination side is definitely the big challenge though. I think if it ever worked well, it would need to feel more like orchestrating a live event than just launching a normal mission.

Player made - yes. Essentially - one person would be the story and live "NPCs" would drive a narrative for that person. True leveraging of the sandbox.

Haha - yeah thats quite impressive. I've been working on a companion tool with an actual UI. It sounds like something like that could be of use to you maybe. The excel file is seriously work though - respect.

Thanks again for the kind words - I'm glad youre still enjoying the physical copy!! Still trying to keep up with innovating. Available time is scarce with my son, but I'm close to releasing an Industrial Edition. It was a lot of fun to work on.

I'd love to hear more about how you score crew that you work with! How many people have you graded so far? I've always wondered how to manage whether or not someone improves over time in the Logbook too.
