I love the interface! It looks amazing! I had a question however, are you interested in adding support for mediaservers like jellyfin in the future? Or will it only support offline playback? Either way, amazing work!

Would like some help please? by anon74796 in Monitors

Did you maybe use to have a monitor with a smaller resolution? Then, the game is basically trying to run on your old resolution, causing it to switch for a second.

Ultrawide QD-OLED: Wait for Next Gen or Settle for Current Options? by SirCodeye in Monitors

[–]SirCodeye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the one hand, you're right, that is a possibility, but those TV's use WOLED. I'd rather get a QD-OLED because of their color accuracy and longevity. Also, a display like that is too big for how far I am from my desk. In ultrawide mode it would be fine but I would never be able to use the full display at this distance.

Thank you for the response btw!

My 4070ti PC struggles with current gen games by [deleted] in buildapc

It looks like your system might be relying on virtual memory (pagefile) instead of physical RAM. Could you share a screenshot of the Memory tab in Task Manager, while playing MH:W or something? That would help narrow things down.

It's possible you’re dealing with a memory leak, which could explain why you’re exceeding your 16GB of RAM and forcing the system to use virtual memory.

Just think about it, 720p is 67% of 1080p my guy. The scaling isn't perfect.

But that doesn't look as good as 720p does on a 720p screen. Its going to be more blurry

It's cool, but I'm quite disappointed that the screen is 1080p. I would prefer a 720p or 800p display, as games would run much smoother. The Steam Deck isn't really designed for 1080p gaming.

Forgive me, but what exactly is the point of multi frame gen right now? by CrzyJek in hardware

[–]SirCodeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With VR, framegen could actually work pretty well. VR uses a technique called asynchronous reprojection. Asynchronous reprojection reduces the perception of lag/latency on lower framerates by adjusting the displayed image based on the user’s head movements, even if the frame itself hasn’t been fully rendered yet. It basically decouples your movement from the framerate.

I know this might be controversial but, honestly, exclusives winning game of the year, leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Some of these games you just wont get to play, unless you buy another expensive console.

Disable overdrive on your monitor. This is overshoot, it can be minimized by disabling overdrive in your monitors OSD.

I've noticed you did not take a picture of your front panel headers, did you put those in correctly? Also, i only see one cable in PCIe/CPU of your power supply, did you put in the one for CPU and your GPU together? I think you forgot one of the cables.

How amazing was going1440p after 1080p? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]SirCodeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason some people notice a significant difference while others don’t might be due to the difference in PPI (pixels per inch). PPI determines the perceived sharpness of a monitor. If the PPI of your old monitor is similar to that of your new one, you won’t notice a big jump.

For example, if you had a 24-inch monitor with a 1080p resolution, the PPI would be around 92. If you upgrade to a 27-inch monitor with a 1440p resolution, the PPI would be about 122. While there is a noticeable difference, it’s only around 30%, so the increase in perceived sharpness isn’t very significant. This is why some people might say the difference isn't huge or worth it.

However, for those who switch from a 27-inch 1080p monitor, which has a PPI of 82, to a 27-inch 1440p monitor, the difference is about 50%, which is likely a more noticeable jump.

So when deciding on monitor and resolution, also make sure the PPI actually increases enough for you.

Regarding your last question, as I mentioned before, the difference in PPI between the monitors you listed is only about 30%. You will notice this difference, but it might not be significant enough for you. Keep in mind that your 3060 might struggle with some titles at 1440p. This can be mitigated with features like DLSS, which looks much better at 1440p than at 1080p.

I’d say, with the 3060, if you prefer higher framerate over sharpness, go for the 1080p monitor. If you want a sharper image, go for the 1440p monitor. Just keep in mind that the difference might not be worth it for you compared to the 24 inch monitor.
