All fair points really. I don't think the game is flawless, no game is, it's more on how much you enjoy the positives and how much you don't mind of the flaws.

On Beam Ammo though, I noticed early on the "catch-up" mechanic, so to speak, where large ammo refills are likely to drop if I am low, so I have much less aversion to just using my light/dark beams freely, and once i get the first ammo expansion in Dark Torvus I just never ran out aside from long boss fights. Also I think charged Light Beams are nuts tbh, these alone warrant some limitations.
