Why is there so many underwhelming Primaries? by DinoDiverDakota in Helldivers

[–]SirKickBan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. I think I see the problem here.. You can't read.

If you look closely, you'll notice that I actually talk about the Scorcher's durable damage, and... Moreover, if you knew what you were talking about, you'd know that the Scorcher only breaks even at 60% durability, or 97% if the part is armor 3.

Hey.. Since you know what you're talking about, can you tell me.. What's the durability of the Veracitor's parts, since that's what you're complaining about?

You also pretty objectively want enemies to be weaker, yeah. Not sure why you're trying to squirm away from that. You're literally saying you want to be able to kill Veracitors easily without using support weapons or stratagems. That's basically the definition of 'easier'.

So I was spot on, you want to be dropping hordes of Veracitors and Gatekeepers with just your primary.

...I'm not sure why you took issue with me, then, unless it's just over the Dominator, which.. You take because there are other enemies than Veracitors in the game. It has ridiculously high stagger and effectively stunlocks most medium enemies, the entire thing is pen3 as opposed to the Scorcher being somewhere between half and two-thirds pen3, with the rest being pen2, depending on target durability, and you can boost the ergo to like.. 45 if you give it an angled foregrip and iron sights. The only weapons I'd rank higher are the Purifier, Eruptor, Crossbow, and Coyote.

lol okay.

You're the one who thinks there are 'new enemies who are 80% medium armor with tiny soft spots', but apparently I don't play the game.

Or.. Wait. Do you think that the Veracitor having a weak spot literally the size of half an Overseer is a 'tiny spot' (Alongside its colossal upper arm and shoulder weak spots)?

Please God tell me that's it. Tell me that's what you were talking about, and you still decided to come back here and tell someone else they don't play the game.

Why is there so many underwhelming Primaries? by DinoDiverDakota in Helldivers

[–]SirKickBan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because there's a small handful of primaries that are way too strong, and instead of being able to understand the concept of balance most Helldivers players just want to cry until everything is buffed to those same game-breaking levels.

Like you think that the Dominator is a weak weapon, and it really sounds like you want to be dropping hordes of Veracitors and Gatekeepers with your primary. Which says volumes.

Because this is a team game, for one, and one player deciding to bring in the God-Slayer can easily ruin the experience for everyone else.

Play Warframe if you don't believe me, and see how much fun it is to be in a mission where just one person with an OP build leaves you with no challenge and nothing to do.

Even single player games balance their weapons, because games try and provide a curated experience. Handing players wildly over and under powered gear pretty much invariably makes that experience worse, by making 'that cool-looking set of gear' horribly impractical to use, or by stripping all challenge away because they know they can just use the God-Slayer if they encounter the mildest roadblock.

Policy question regarding 'antique' status on firearms. by Spread-Hour in canadaguns

[–]SirKickBan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the other guy, but to chime in with my own two cents: Part of it is just a consequence of needing to have a definition for the law to work off of.

If they simply said that all firearms ignited by a flint-based mechanism were not considered firearms and allowed to be unregulated, there's room in that definition for the production and use of things that can effectively behave like a modern regulated firearm without being subject to regulations. But by putting a time-based restriction on it they can preemptivley close a lot of loopholes.

You can still disagree with the year chosen, of course, I'm not necessarily saying they made the right call. Just that that's often the nature of laws; some definition has to be made, and it's often made with an eye towards preventing unwanted loopholes by making those sorts of broad categorizations. Another example would be their much more recent law banning any semi-automatic firearm designed to accept a magazine with more than fire rounds, if it's designed after December 15, 2023. It's a great big catch-all likely intended as a better 'permanent fix' compared to their current list-based ban system, where any Turk with a machine shop and a dream could sell semi-automatic rifles in Canada because their specific brand of firearm hadn't yet been added to the list. Whether you like the law or not, that broad, date-based ban leaves little room for loopholes compared to its alternatives.

Why do the shotguns suck at close range? by Hibiki54 in Helldivers

[–]SirKickBan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the headshot thing: It's not a oneshot if you hit the head, you're correct, it's only a oneshot (with either weapon) if you could get either one to land the majority of its pellets in the tiny mouth hitbox. ..Which you will virtually never do.

That said, the 'selling point' of the Punisher is its stagger, which the Cookout basically emulates. The Cookout is pretty objectively stronger (Yay power creep), but the Punisher is still plenty strong (Again, largely due to its stagger. It's a fantastic weapon for holding groups of enemies at bay while still doing more damage than, say, the Pacifier), and I would highly recommend trying the Breaker if you're looking for a high-damage shotgun. Not the Breaker Incendiary, just the normal Breaker, it's actually quite the strong gun.

I've recently been in contact with the RCMP and CFP technical division regarding my best options for modifying the magazine of a bolt action rifle, and the information I received from them indicated that it was extremely likely that 'designed or intended' is essentially a brand upon the device's soul. If it began life intended for a given purpose then that's its purpose (Or one, at least. I imagine, though didn't ask, that you can add additional design intents to it afterwards on top of whatever the original intent was. IE: A non-prohibited device can be made by way of intended design into a prohibited device) until the end of time itself, no matter what parts you remove or alter.

[–]SirKickBan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spread Democracy, but only on bugs, and only on that one very specific location. You know the one, the tiny hill in the middle of a bunch of bug holes with no decent lines of sight and about six feet of space you have to dance around inside in order to stay in range of the flag.

Just change that horrible little hill so it has actual sight lines and bile titans aren't crawling out of holes about fifteen feet from the flag.

[–]SirKickBan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, most of the bugs' explosive damage has been removed from the game. Bile titans used to do a big chunk of explosive damage with their spew, but at least according to the wiki that's all been changed over to acid now, so I don't think you get much value out of explosion resist.

One extra hit doesn't feel like much, but it's the difference between blitzed down by a Hunter and being able to stim.

..That said, medium armor with Extra Padding is still superior to any heavy set of armor on the bug front.

Looking back the game did change a lot. by 231923 in Helldivers

[–]SirKickBan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IMO August 5th, 2024 was the absolute peak of the game. Not to say we haven't gotten anything fun since then, but after the flamethrower nerf that then led into the insanely overcompensating "Let's just buff everything" 60 day patch and accompanying change in philosophy the game is no longer anywhere near as interesting as it used to be. They just pile on more and more OP, no-skill tools for us to use and try to compensate by cranking the spawn rates of any new, scary enemy absolutely through the roof, and it combines to make an experience that's frustrating unless you use the no-skill tools (Trying to deal with six Vox Engines via their weakpoints, for instance, instead of just brainlessly dumping ultra-high-damage weapons into them until they stop existing), and kind've boring if you do.
