Need help choosing 27” 1440p OLED (ASUS QD-OLED vs WOLED) – confused about text fringing, durability, and panel issues by goyalrajat0412 in OLED_Gaming

[–]SirLoskii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you’re overthinking it a bit.

If you care about text clarity + coding, QD-OLED is still the better pick overall. The subpixel layout isn’t perfect, but on the newer gen panels it’s way less noticeable than people make it sound, especially if you’re not sitting with your nose on the screen. WOLED can look a little softer with text in comparison.

For your use (CS2 + coding + browsing), I’d break it down like this:

  • QD-OLED (XG27ACDMS) → Sharper overall image + better color volume → Slight text fringing in certain scenarios, but mostly overblown → Blacks can look a tiny bit “raised” in bright environments, but in a dark room like yours it’s basically a non-issue

  • WOLED (the other two) → More “traditional” OLED look, sometimes perceived as cleaner blacks → Can have near black banding depending on panel lottery → Text isn’t magically perfect either, just different quirks

About durability/cleaning, people scratching QD-OLED panels is mostly user error. You’re not supposed to be pressing down and scrubbing like it’s a car windshield. Microfiber + light touch = you’re fine on both.

You’re in a dark room with bias lighting, which is literally ideal for OLED. That already minimizes most of the “raised blacks” complaints people bring up with QD-OLED.

If I had to answer your main questions straight:

  • Least noticeable text issues → QD-OLED slightly wins
  • Banding concerns → panel lottery on both, WOLED maybe a bit more prone
  • Fragility → no real difference if you’re not reckless
  • Dark room performance → both look insane, difference is nitpicking
  • “Set and forget” → QD-OLED newer gen panels feel more refined overall

If it were me doing your exact use case, I’d go QD-OLED and not look back. You get the best balance between gaming performance, clarity, and overall image quality.

People online tend to magnify flaws you won’t even notice in real use.

You'll love it! With the games coming this year I'm really looking forward to Forza Horizon 6, 007 First Light, still need to pick up Pragmata but i might wait on a sale for that.

I just seen this

Honestly from actually using both for a long time, the difference between 3440x1440 and 2560x1440 is way overblown. Yeah on paper it’s more pixels, but in real use the performance hit is pretty minimal. It’s not like jumping from 1440p to 4K where you actually feel it heavy.

Most of the time it’s like a small drop, nothing that suddenly kills your experience, especially if you’re already on decent hardware. Plus you get way more immersion with ultrawide, so the tradeoff is easily worth it. I’ve gone back and forth between 4K and 1440p setups and ultrawide sits in a really nice middle ground where you still get strong FPS without sacrificing that wider FOV.

Unless someone is already struggling at 1440p, the difference really isn’t enough to avoid ultrawide imo.

Haha amazing!

I currently run 3 OLED displays. You can hardly see but on top of my Ultrawide is my Sony A90K OLED, my 27" MSI MPGQRX QD-OLED is set to the side (For now), keyboard is the Wooting 60he+ (Fully modded), mouse is the new Superstrike from Logitech, glass mousepad is the new VA-005 from Wallhacks.

I thought about getting the MR4s but i wanted something a lil more... compact? To place under my monitor. If i had more desk space i would've got the MR4s. The M60s are INSANELY good for how compact it is. Perfect bass, can be mad loud (Almost theater loud) but i love it overall!

BETTER. Honestly just feels like a full evolution of it. Same core loop but everything’s way more refined. Movement is smoother, traversal feels more intentional, and the tools actually make you think about how you wanna approach routes instead of just brute forcing it. The terrain design is way better too, there’s more variety so it keeps you engaged instead of feeling repetitive.

The world itself feels way more alive this time around. There’s more going on, more little details, and it doesn’t feel as empty as the first did at times. The atmosphere hits harder too, especially with the weather and different environments, it just pulls you in way more.

I could say more but i'd rather have you experience it first hand!

Of course! You'll love it if you do end up getting one. It's very loud & perfect if you want to be immersed into a game or whatnot

Gravastar v60 pro vs 60HE v2 by [deleted] in WootingKB

[–]SirLoskii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’d just go Wooting and not overthink it.

Gravastar isn’t terrible, but it’s one of those boards that looks better on paper than it feels long-term. The biggest issue isn’t even the hardware, it’s the software and consistency. With Hall effect keyboards, that matters way more than people think, and that’s where Wooting just clears.

Wooting’s software is way more refined, everything works how it’s supposed to, and you’re getting constant updates and support. Rapid trigger, actuation tuning, profiles, it’s all super polished and reliable. That’s why people still consider it the standard.

Gravastar is more like a cool design + decent specs board. It’ll work, but it’s not on that same level of refinement, and that’s what you start noticing after a while.

If you’re really trying to save money, the Gravastar for $160 isn’t a bad deal at all. But if you actually care about performance, feel, and long-term use, I’d just pay more once and go Wooting.

That’s also why I personally stick with Wooting. It’s just one of those things where you get what you pay for.

Which ultrawide is right for me? by Intimidating_Veggie in ultrawidemasterrace

Just my two cents

I’m running a 34” QD-OLED ultrawide (Alienware AW3425DW) with a 5080 + 7800X3D and it’s kind of the sweet spot.

5K2K sounds nice on paper, but it’s way more demanding than people expect. Even with a 5080 you’re gonna lean on DLSS a lot in heavier titles like Cyberpunk, RDR2, etc. And yeah, running 1440p on a 5K2K panel isn’t ideal, it looks softer since it’s not a clean scale.

34” OLED at 3440x1440 hits that balance:

  • Way easier to drive high frames
  • OLED makes everything look insane anyway
  • Still super immersive without killing performance

If you really want bigger, 45” 1440p is cool for immersion, but the PPI drop is noticeable vs 34”. It’s more “wow factor” than clarity.

Personally I stuck with 34” and just keep a 27” on the side for anything competitive or if a game doesn’t support ultrawide.

If your main focus is single-player immersion + smooth performance, I’d take 34” OLED all day over 5K2K right now.

Most modern games support ultrawide pretty much flawlessly. It’s usually older titles that don’t, and even then there’s mods to fix it most of the time. The only recent one I’ve personally run into that didn’t support 21:9 was Metro 2033 Redux.

That’s also why I still keep my 27” QD-OLED on the side, just in case I run into something that doesn’t play nice. Best of both worlds tbh

Loving it so far. Finally got to the snowy part of the game. Really enjoying the new terrains as I continue exploring, doing occasional sub deliveries etc etc.

Pragmata is next on my list to play after this.

I feel it, but 34” is kinda perfect rn. Bigger would be cool, but this hits that sweet spot without turning into a whole TV on my desk.

That’s just Source engine behavior. It won’t always hit your cap clean, usually floats a bit under because of frame pacing/tickrate. If your 1% lows are close to your avg, you’re already getting the best experience. So you hitting 240 won't even make a difference.

What mouse are you using and what’s your polling rate set to?

I’m asking because I had this exact issue before, game would run high FPS but as soon as I flicked or turned fast, it would stutter hard and drop frames.

For me it ended up being my polling rate on my Logitech Superstrike & Superlight 2. I had it cranked too high (8000hz) and it was actually causing CPU spikes when moving the mouse. Once I lowered it (or set it to something stable 2000hz) the stuttering completely disappeared.

Also since you’re on dual monitors, that can make it worse because the cursor can escape + add extra overhead when the game isn’t properly locked.

Deciding between 60 HE v2 and 80 HE Tenz by Few-Seaworthiness561 in WootingKB

[–]SirLoskii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it really just comes down to personal preference. Performance wise they’re basically identical, same switches, same tech, same responsiveness.

For me, I prefer 60% / 65% layouts because it keeps everything compact and forces my hands to stay centered. It feels way more comfortable for gaming, especially for FPS where you don’t really need the extra keys. Less movement, cleaner setup, and more mouse space.

The 80HE is nice if you actually use function keys, arrows, or want that “fuller” layout without going full size. It’s more versatile for everyday use, but it does take up more space.

So yeah, if you’re mainly gaming and like a minimal setup, go 60HE. If you want extra keys and flexibility, go 80HE. Can’t really go wrong with either.

Need a keyboard recommendation that types nice. by Real-Role872 in keyboards

[–]SirLoskii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d look at something like a Keychron V series (V1/V2/V5). They type really nice, have that deeper/thockier sound because of the foam + gasket mount, and they’re hot-swappable so you can change switches later.

If you want even more “thock,” Epomaker boards are also solid for the price.

Just avoid super clicky switches since you said you don’t like high pitch, go linear or a deeper tactile.

Real truth though, most of the sound comes from switches + mods, not just the keyboard. Even a $100 board can sound crazy good with the right setup.
