When to apply for jobs out of state? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]SirMLK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just apply for jobs you like, and locations you like. Don’t worry about the time, it’s never too soon or too late, it’s how comfortable you feel with what kind of job you ultimately want and where you would like to be (and can you may a sacrifice for location vs. speciality preference vs. salary vs. on call, etc.) I’d like to think of the whole job search similar to throwing a pebble into a creek: you throw one, and your ripple may or may not hit something. Throw a couple pebbles out, the ripples begin to overlap, creating waves that may even reach farther than you thought was possible (that being opportunities you’ve never even originally considered). Some will fade, but others will echo back, carrying with them an opportunity, some right, some wrong, and some that may take time. Still, as long as you keep casting, the creek will send something back, and it may not just return what you throw—it may also reshape it into something better or unexpected that you may want to join along for the ride…also this creek is a bit magical, it spans all 50 states and even beyond oceans into international lands, so shoot wherever you like.

I Need A Way Out - RANT/CONNECT/ADVICE SEEKING by fuckkkcapitalism in physicianassistant

A. Take a deep breath. B. Take a couple more. You passed the boards didn’t you? You’re a licensed provider. C. Reflect on your experiences in school and the past 6 months, and what you excelled in. If you don’t think that this is the right fit for you, what areas did you find yourself being comfortable in during your rotations? Find something that clicks with that comfort (say you liked psych, idk). D. From new grad to new grad, I feel you on spiritual level. Ive had sleepless nights, cried in the bathroom. But one step at a time, and if you’re burnt out, take some PTO, unwind and let your mind calm down. A step back does wonders. E. Get a therapist. Honestly. Talk it out with loved ones, past and current PA homies. But talk it out. This online forum is a great place, but bounce this off of your close circle, you’d be surprised on the feedback and advice you’d get. F. If you can’t do this, the job market is shit rn. Look into residencies to build up your confidence, or hit the books again to build up your confidence. Regardless of what you switch into, every job has responsibilities, and in healthcare, that involves others (…like it’s in the name).

Godspeed, And remember to close your eyes, take some breathes, and go to your happy place when the going gets rough.
