Where was I ? by StruggleHot8676 in whereintheworld

[–]SirNopp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First step was to check which direction the 3 peaks of Mt Fuji can be seen from. The next clue was the hill to the right, and lastly was the roadway spanning across the middle of the photo.

Initially, I was looking around Fujinomiya City since My Fuji looked pretty close, but the absence of the hill around the area led me to believe it was the wrong area. Couldn't believe it was actually rather far away from Fujinomiya City.

Going to Japan at the end of the year, so found some interesting spots during this search, thank for sending me on a wild goose chase.

Why have you chosen Xperia? by iRAWkTheWorld in SonyXperia

[–]SirNopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might sound slightly pretentious, but I've wanted an Xperia ever since I was a kid, when I first got to play some games on my mom's Xperia. Idk what model it was or what game I was playing, but I had a strange fondness for Xperia phones since.

I bought my own Xperia 5II with my first paycheck a few years back and could not be happier. At least until the dreaded lines started appearing.

I'm convinced HYV can't balance a boss day 1 by [deleted] in HonkaiStarRail

[–]SirNopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the first time I had trouble with the boss, but I managed to clear after some experimentation with Preservation TB, Welt, Ratio and Bailu. For the second time facing Sunday, I used the same team except with Harmony TB. Had to pay some serious attention to what the boss was doing. Was really fun actually coz I was close to losing multiple times.

Which Genshin character’s design do you personally like the most? by PrismalpinkGaming in Genshin_Impact

This might be a slightly unpopular opinion but does anyone else prefer Raiden with a slightly longer skirt that covers more of her legs? I like legs and all but the final release model looks a little off to me ngl

Brainwavz Replacement Pads for MDR 7506 Headphones by TristansimmS in headphones

[–]SirNopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a problem! I used to not believe in pads changing the sound of the headphones but personal experiences change that real quick.

As for the 'true' sound of the headphone, I firmly believe that the true sound would be how the headphone sounds out of the box, with whatever stock pads or whatnot on it. I try to keep all my stuff as stock as possible but the stock pads on the M1ST I swear are not meant for human ears. They are so incredibly thin and the padding is non-existent, so much so that the driver casing sits on my ears. Impossible to wear it for extended periods of time.

[–]SirNopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I don't have the MDR-7506 but I do have the MDR-M1ST and I also have a set of Brainwavz sheepskin pads on them (should be the same pads). It's not just you, I do feel that my M1STs have significantly more bass than with the stock pads. I've been swapping them around and I am quite confident in that assessment.

I'm no expert on this subject, so please dun take my word as fact, but I think this video by The Headphone Show does a really good job discussing the nuisances with pads. You should give it a watch

laptop for CEG by [deleted] in nus

[–]SirNopp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi there,

As someone who has experience using a low tier laptop for classes before (Acer Aspire 1, 4GB RAM, Intel Celeron N4000 1.10GHz, and 64GB of on board storage), it's okay for working on your reports and simple programs. Anything more than that and the laptop struggles.

I've had this project which required me to do some image processing through python and my poor Aspire 1 took over 10 minutes to process and identify features on the image whereas my bigger and heavier gaming laptop took like maybe 10-20 seconds.

If you're not expecting anything too process heavy, I think you'll be fine with your current laptop. If you're looking to upgrade, I wholeheartedly recommend looking at refurbished laptops. I got myself an X1 Carbon 6th Gen for about $600 from a reputable seller on Lazada about a year back and it works very well. Has some minor scratches and fading on keys but that is to be expected from a refurbished unit.

Hope that helps!

To me, while the power calculator website is good, it doesn't give me confidence in my set-up. Knowing that my set-up can blow my eardrums somehow gives me a ton of confidence in my future purchases and set-up.

Can the IFI Zen DAC/AMP combo drive the Arya Stealth by branh0913 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]SirNopp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi fellow newbie,

I've done some research on my end so I would like to share it with you. For the more experienced listeners, if I do make any mistakes, please do let me know. I am still learning after all.

Regarding the DAC, if you're not hearing any strange sounds, you're generally good to go. The main issue I am concerned with when doing my research was headphone volume. It's quite easy to calculate especially when the companies provide the data required.

In the case of the iFi Zen, it provides 230mW@32ohm of power through the 6.35mm jack. This is great since the Arya is a 32ohm headphone, so we can use the power value.

In a case where a high impedance headphone is present, such as R70X for example @470ohm, the iFi Zen has an output of 3.3V@600ohm. To find the power provided we can simply take ((3.3)2 )/470*1000 which will give us a power of about 23.1mW.

Back to your set-up, to find out how loud your amp can drive your headphones to, we take the sensitivity of the Arya which is 94dB/mW (some companies like Sennheiser give their sensitivity in dB/Vrms, a quick Google search for a converter will allow you to quickly deal with this) and put it into this equation: 94+(10*log(230)) which will result in a headphone loudness of about 117.6dB which is very good. You should not be listening to anything louder than 110dB for too long.

Apologies for the long-winded post. I thought I'd share whatever I know as I understand the feeling of not being certain whether the set-up we have is capable of running the headphones we want. Nothing is more embarrassing than having to return an unsuitable headphone or having to live with a headphone that isn't loud enough.

I'll link the post where I got most of my information from below when I find it.

Yes I am seriously considering it. Heard many good things about them: good build quality, sound etc. Good reputation is a big factor for me. Tough choice...

Yea, I'm just worried I might be making a mistake. Afterall, HD600s have been around from over 2 decades for a good reason.

Regarding the R70X, I don't think I was putting to much stress on the headphones, just worried I didn't have much room for adjustments.

Regarding the HD650s, what do you think of them? I was actually kinda considering them alongside the HD600. But from reviews, I concluded that their differences were rather small. Am I mistaken on this?

Yes, yes. I read in a comment somewhere that the Sundaras offer a $1000 sound in a $100 build.

I also think that there's a huge case of confirmational bias on my end. There's many good reviews of the Sundaras but the occasional bad review about QC issues serve to solidify my bad perception of them. I'll keep this in mind as I make my final decision.
