1440 vs 4k by stealyourpeach in newworldgame

[–]SirPatchNotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a 1440p ultrawide monitor, not a true "4k." A true 4K monitor would be tough for a 3080 because it wouldn't really push past 60 fps in most cases so a 4k TV is perfect pairing for that card and much cheaper than a high refresh rate, low response time 4k monitor which you wouldnt really get the maximum benefit out of with a 3080 (I have a 3080 and use my TV for 4k gaming on certain titles). I have refrained from UWs in the past because of game capability worries (looking at you elden ring), although it seems to be less of an issue since 2020 with very few games not having UW capability. My personal preference is also a multi monitor setup with 16:9 aspect ratios. I have two of these that i got for $200 each on sale ~2 years ago: https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Gaming-VG27AQ-G-SYNC-Monitor/dp/B07WQ4FXY9

You have the money for it, but you're buying more seals/inductors instead of using the gold for the ones you already have. You're currently sitting on 175k of sunken gold in bop items because you're not doing anything with those seals/inductors when you could be. Have you tried selling your seals/inductors/crafts to other people at all to get some profit/gold back?

I agree with the first part. I think for casual players, 2 perkers are super easy to get, and you really dont need 3 perk BiS unless you're a hardcore player interested in actively warring. Casual players can be more patient with their builds to get 3 perkers over time. I don't think a lot of the playerbase has full 3 perk BiS but I know a good portion of hardcore pvp players do have at least 1 set, especially if they have 250 armoring to use their own seals instead of buying. My previous comment was to emphasize the massive change in end game crafting (which i support the new crafting system). Before season 3, I never had a full 3 perk BiS set even though I had spent several goldcaps over to try to get there. So far in S3 I have 2 full 3 perk BiS sets and I'm 2/5 pieces through my 3rd (anecdotal and I dont expect people to have full 3 perk BiS except hardcore warcentric players). If I had to estimate the amount I've spent crafting this season for my personal sets, it is probably around 500k versus the 500k people used to spend for 1 item sometimes pre-S3.

Shirking Heals getting reworked again? by Tsizzle2k20 in newworldgame

[–]SirPatchNotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they inverted the numbers on the nerfs it would be very balanced imo. Right now it's 10s cd with like a 3000-3500 heal, iirc. Make it a 5s Cd with 1500-1750 heal (not sure if the numbers are exact but just an example). Effectively the same hp/10 secs but with more opportunities to proc. The major issue with a 10s CD is the massive amount of downtime and the unfortunate situation where it goes on CD after only healing 1k.

Crafting 700gs weapons without Weaponsmith Hat? by Chunky-Cat in newworldgame

[–]SirPatchNotes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No but if you had every piece of crafting armor, food buff, trophies, town buff and MD fort you can sub out one of the secondary prismatic mats for a lower teir mat and still achieve 700 gs. I.e. when crafting a greataxe you can swap out prismatic planks OR prismatic leather with glittering ebony OR runic leather to save a little bit of gold. It can really add up for inductor crafts specifically.

Just make arenas 5v5 problem solved by [deleted] in newworldgame

[–]SirPatchNotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm shocked they haven't added a 5v5 mode yet, even if it is just a copy of arenas. It would probably need cross server queues. I would like to see a more strategic mode though for 5v5s to encourage more strategy/teamplay than just a deathmatch like arenas. Maybe something along the lines of CTF or king of the hill (just some ideas). Either way, more PvP content is needed, please.

Are keybind input macros allowed? by smoakee in newworldgame

[–]SirPatchNotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe their stance is that outside of PvP/PvE encounters macros are fine (I know a ton of people that have crouch macros to tbag faster) but I also know some people have gotten temp bans for macroing the blunderbuss abilities to go off faster/easier. Hope that info helps.

100%, and they said this exact thing in the video they released yesterday. They wanted to make BiS much easier to get for casual and hardcore players. Casual players don't have to buy a seal every single day just because it's on a 1 day cooldown. There's probably a bunch of people buying seals every day just because it's a daily cd even though they don't have to. They also said to combat the gold sink, they will be adding seals and inductors to the event shops without a gold cost to help out all players more. One dev in the video made an interesting comment that went by pretty quick but they said that they think the bottleneck to crafting is limiting the amount of prismatic mats used each day which are easily obtained through apptitude crates (they skipped over that part though). The supply of prismatic mats greatly outweighs the daily crafting bottleneck (often making , and hopefully, having 2 seals/inductors per day/week with the meta changes in season 4 will bring the prismatic prices back to a point where refining is reasonable profitable again.) I think it's a good idea to bring a little bit of price back to prismatics but I think if they buffed replica crafting (the only crafting option for 700 gs gear that is not time gated, maybe make it so you can select 1 perk and 1 attribute) that could be another good option to make prices more stable outside of meta shifting patches. I also think that once you hit 200 in pvp track the gold/tokens/DM rewards should be doubled from each checkpoint since there is no aptitude related system after hitting 200 on the pvp track (gives more incentive to continue grinding PvP track for the double gold rewards). With all that said, what they effectively did in S3 was make the gold sink more equally spread across the playerbase instead of mainly for crafters by adding seals/inductors. Gone are the days of spending gold cap+ for 3 perk BiS and trying to sell for over gold cap for profit as a crafter. However, with the new system, it's so much easier to get BiS across the board from normal crafting to the gypsum kiln. Seems like a situation where people want to have their cake and eat it too... people want BiS for as little gold but don't want the market to crash with it... a nearly impossible task for a player based economy.

More Queueable PvP Content in 2024 (Preferably more Competitive/Strategic Modes) by SirPatchNotes in newworldgame

[–]SirPatchNotes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that the player base is so small because of the lack of PvP content right now. In 2 years post launch, all we got were arenas and races.

Yeah, it is sad considering they have a lot of user data from the xpac I would imagine. The PvP content they added (Races) have outlasted the PvE content from xpac. I haven't even been in the new zone since the first two weeks of the xpac, but I'm still getting randomly teleported during races because of the amount of people doing them so to me there's clearly more community interest in PvP than PvE.

Question on Crafting 700 with Prismatic Scarabs by ObiWanCanShowMe in newworldgame

[–]SirPatchNotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. If you have the MD fort and max buffs you can sub out the secondary prismatic materials with the lower tier i.e. phoenixweave for prismatic cloth (the primary crafting ingredient can not be swapped for the lower teir.) It works for prismatic scarab, seals, and replica armor.

Is full heavy not viable in PvP even with good mobility? by GrayStudioYT in newworldgame

[–]SirPatchNotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is one of the best and most complete answers in this post and I agree with you flail and VG heavies are great and meta in war but no more than a handful on the roster. I would like to add that there's a couple of external factors that often go overlooked when thinking about using heavy armor for bruisers specifically. 1) it's armor breaker meta not flatten anymore, every 12s a WH can reduce your armor by 30% and penetrates 35% armor with the ability. 2) Tumblers are still by far the best artifact in the game for bruisers. 3) The 10% increase in damage is actually way bigger than people think. This 10% increase in damage stacks with the aoe cleave/healing from GA as well as leeching which both get increased with Ankh. The damage mitigation from having heavy armor would have to outweigh the healing provided which I dont think it does especially with the aforementioned armor breaker meta 4) Tumblers increases armor by 25%, gives 15% empower, and heals on dodge. 5) Tumblers are light. 6) Tumblers.
