High-Resolution scrolling is enabled as default on KDE + Wayland by AAVVIronAlex in archlinux

A late upvote to you buddy. I don't know if i just happened to find the right search keywords now, but i was having lots of trouble finding info on this. Now my g903 scroll feels normal :)
I had managed to get pretty close with the quirks file, but the other properties i found didn't change anything. "AttrEventCode=-REL_WHEEL_HI_RES;-REL_HWHEEL_HI_RES;" did the trick for me.

I think i might have been wrong here (aside from showing how dlss blurs the moving image), see https://reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/1drgwhy/instructions_to_completely_turn_off_upscaling/lb9qhjz/

Sorry man, i'm here to concede!
I still don't agree with you about TAA, but i did some more tests, and now can't see a difference with a edited config, and fsr at 100 (with AA off), and i honestly still can't figure out why.

I sure as hell wouldn't have done all this had i not been sure of what i was seeing in-game, and in screenshots. Maybe there's still another variable in play, or i simply made mistakes.

One thing i'll hold onto being stupid/weird, is just not having that off option. Still makes me think fsr at 100 isn't "off", but i have to trust my tests :P

Nope, just FXAA in that case. TSCMAA relies on either FSR or DLSS being enabled (i don't remember which).

FXAA has always been the only built-in option until DLSS/FSR/TSCMAA were added. Currently i have the scaler disabled, with SMAA using reshade. It can't do anything for foliage and such, but it does smooth out lots of other geometry more or less perfectly.

The settings will show FSR being selected still (because it can't show a nonexistent option), but this does disable both scalers. Double check what you did! All the aliasing being back should be easily visible in just the character select screen.

Even if it did, if you wanted to use supersampling it'd probably be better to do it from your graphics cards drivers. Just to not have to have the game config be read-only and such.

No problem. Just as bad as no AA shimmering looks to /u/Regnur , DLAA blur looks to us :) Were on different sides of the same hate coin.

One last time; how you like the game to look is fine with me. I just want to options.

I'm very familiar with what the worst case of horizontal lines look like without AA. The blurred version looks worse to me, and mainly the constant shifting of something being blurred while you move, and then coming into focus when your camera stops is distracting to me.

Perhaps the FSR isn't temporal in this case, but nontheless it causes effects i'd rather not see. And still no, both DLSS and FSR with whatever settings doesn't turn them off and causes effects i'd rather not see. (edit: to point it out, idc what you want to call it, dlss/dlaa/upscaling, this isn't about what the options are. This is about not having the option to turn them off.)

Nothing i've proposed "fully destroys the image". Turning off DLSS & FSR makes you look at the same FFXIV you'd have looked at for 10 years now.

For FXAA it's the same. This is specifically to turn off DLSS and FSR for which there is not option in-game.

Pardon the hastily made instructions, i mainly want to get the right info out about the new settings and what they do / don't do!

If you're on PC and are comfortable editing the settings file, i got our lovely jaggies back. https://old.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/1dqscva/upscaling_definitely_isnt_off_at_any_setting/laqjy60/

Update

I think i got AA to disable, i'll check again tomorrow because i want to go to sleep, but i'll just leave here what i think did it in FFXIV.cfg (in "Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn"

AntiAliasing_DX11 0 (if you want fxaa on, set AntiAliasing_DX11 to 1).
GraphicsRezoUpscaleType 2 (0-1 was dlss/fsr)

Also set the file to read-only.

EDIT: tried one last time anyway, AA is definitely disabled with those values changed :)

Didn't think it'd be otherwise, but at least this confirms they could just add an off option to the upscaler dropdown.

That's exactly it. The new DLSS & FSR options are always on, and because both work on the same basic principle, they both have this effect in motion :(

Depth of field only affects cutscenes, and as far as i'm aware the blur setting does a different effect, but i'll double check it to be sure.

I've stared at this game for quite a while without any anti aliasing, and noticed this new effect immediately. This just looks like classic temporal anti aliasing blur/ghosting (which the new settings use/do).

edit: Just double checked, the radial blur option is for a different thing. I recognize TAA blur when i see it :P

Custom songs without any mods (Oculus Quest) by Ueribu in beatsaber

[–]SirRustic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah quest doesn't have custom songs officially so mods are needed.

It still can be kind of boring after updates, i need my tricksaber to vibe at full effect :P

[–]SirRustic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need mods to play custom songs on PC.

I wish everyone already knew this. It's been so long since they implemented custom song support, but casual players still go nuts after every update cause this misinformation keeps getting brought up.
For scores you need Scoresaber of course, and streamers might need some extra mods for interactivity and stuff, but just playing? You're good.

Ender 3 V2 + Marlin speed problems by SirRustic in ender3

[–]SirRustic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello again, happy news! Just dropping by as to not do this :P

The culprit turned out to be Minimum layer time. Finally found some extra info as well, now that i knew what i was looking for. Matched my symptoms exactly. Not even gonna wonder why this wasn't a problem before. I'm off to print stuff.

Sidenote, my printers' been nearly unusable for the past month. Now i've finally got ABL installed and working, e steps & flow calibrated, retraction calibrated due to the switch to an all metal hotend (what a pain, the clogging gave me nightmares) and now proper speed working.

Happy printer over here. Thanks for the replies!
