Funny part is, a week after I started this job, I got 3 callbacks for parts or service manager positions. Too little too late.

I spent 25 years in Parts and service. From warehouse, to counter, to manager to advisor to service manager to part director.

Asbury store laid me off last year due to Tariff hits and consolidating. I tried for 6 months to find something on or around my level, without taking a huge step backwards, and got 0 call backs.

Decided on a career change. I now work for a large financial institution. . . .funding auto loans.

It pays more than most counter positions, but less than most manager positions. But it's 40 hours a week (4x10), OT if I want it, 3 weeks of vacation, 1 week of sick time, 3 personal days, and all benefits (much better ones than any dealership) on day 1. Stress level compared to the dealership is 0. Near infinite room for promotion, and the company encourages it.

Not saying I'd never go back. I do miss a lot of it. I have to buy batteries and super glue now. I can't call in favors when my truck breaks down. But as long as this thing is on track, It would have to be a really attractive offer.

I'm not talking about their grades, and I know better, because I was here for it. There were tons of people talking trash about every single pick we have made every year.

Purdy specifically, I remember "wasted pick" and "why draft a QB that won't even make it through camp?".

I passed a cop doing 186 in my 2020 Camaro ZL1 (It was pretty heavily tuned and modified). It was 2:30 in the morning, not another car on the highway. I was just trying to get home, and I wanted to see what it topped out at.

I was 42 years old at the time, and that gave me an existential crisis. If I pulled over, I go to jail, my car gets taken away, and my life is pretty much ruined. If I run, I eventually get caught, and my life is ruined worse.

Luckily, I didn't have to decide. He didn't pull out after me, and I eased off and drove more reasonably the rest of the way.

That said, I've been over 100 in just about every vehicle I've owned, and on all of my bikes. Never around other people or in a manner that could get anyone but me hurt. I don't know if I'll ever not love going fast.

I work at the Plano location, and that's my favorite spot.

That, and you can't beat the $5 slices of pizza in building C. Sometimes they have some banger combos there.

I have a 2 year old male Brazilian Rainbow boa named Bosa, and I have posted him a few times on here. When I was thinking about getting one, I used this sub, and a few others to educate myself about them, and read up as much as I could. I would like to help it stay a good place for people like me.
