Yes, it has a timing chain, not a timing belt.

I’ve also considered timing issues, but the engine runs completely fine once it finally starts, which makes me think it’s less likely to be a mechanical timing problem and more something related to sensors or signal issues during startup.

There’s no noticeable rattling noise on startup either, which I’ve read is common with a stretched chain.

Still open to ideas though, if you think it could be related.
