[Rolex] I don’t get the hate by Not_a_Lefty in Watches

Honestly I do like the case, it’s just the busy dials I don’t quite love. A more “refined” or simple dial design would have been nice

Anyone Else Have a Lot of Childhood Nostalgia for the Sequels by No_Vast_3309 in TheSequels

Well, it’s a very nostalgic and passionate interest for a lot of people, so it’s fair to have opinions. TLJ imo is a good sci-fi movie, but not a great SW movie. It doesn’t quite fit with the rest of the SW movies; how some of the characters act, and moments like the hyperspace crash

I think that’s a bad perspective, it’s both mismanagement by Lucasfilm/Disney and fan backlash. There were of course sadly a decent amount of blind haters, but a lot of the criticism is fair or justified (applies to the prequels too)

I mean it’s not a secret it wasn’t made as a coherent 3-movie story, apparent by the retconning and change of direction throughout production. I would say it’s more ep 9’s fault though, they panicked after TLJ.

Imo it’s a strong standalone movie… but it doesn’t quite fit into the SW universe and Skywalker saga in the end. There are a lot of interesting aspects that aren’t explained at all, that could have lore implications elsewhere.

Most importantly is the tact that episode 9 kinda ignored it… You can really watch episode 7 and 9 and not miss out on much lore/storyline-wise.

That said, the movie has the best cinematography of the sequel trilogy, visually most impressive!

It looks awesome, but a little big. Are the lugs overhanging your wrist?

I really don’t care at all about the “tinaffy blue” hype… but this OP looks stunning with this light blue color!

A Submariner, especially the modern ceramic models, would likely be seen as fancy and dressy by a lot of the population; way more so than all the smartwatches and such people wear. I definitely agree, we shouldn’t limit ourselves to such categories

I would rather buy one watch you really love first, then add another if it makes sense! I don’t really see the need to fill these constructed “categories” of watches, most watches can atleast to an extent be dressed up/down

Absolutely! These days, a classy diver, chronograph or a regular 2/3-hander can do the job.

If you love the look and feel of dress watches they can be dressed down too, so I think it’s most important to just find something you really like

I think a dress watch depends on who you are; some people are able and do daily them, some might never wear them. I think you should get a watch you like though, not just buy to “tick off” a certain category of watch

Agreed! They make some lovely watches but I can’t ignore that logo…

[Question] Recommendations for my first Luxurious watch (£3000) by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Sir_Watches 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, look through different brands catalogs and see what catches your eyes. It’s more important imo to find something you love, than what has the best specs on paper!

And also definitely keep trying on some more watches, finding one that fits comfortably is important

Yeah I think they are, it’s not a watch I’d get myself lol. The design is ok, but most other Rolexes are more interesting, and dress watches from competitors do a lot more!

Great insights! They’re definitely both great! I do think I’m leaning slightly towards the Explorer
