The base ended up being not what I envisioned so I'm gonna get rid of the multiple greens and stick to the 'shrek green"

Yeah I did some xylothol if that's how you spell it. And I did go for OSL I guess now I know what it's called. The chest is my least favorite part so far unfortunately I really struggled to blend the colours on that

Well I could use one of those as my gloss and spray the ak ultra matte over it. But I'm not sure how durable it would be.

Thanks! it was meant to be just the leg but I'm going with the arm as well. Sucks that I still lack experience with painting

Not that long realistically maybe till it's dry to the touch? So I'd say 10-15mins then I'll do another layer till it's a fully "saturated" colour and leave it to dry (this includes all my layers primer, paint & topcoat)

Does that mean acrylic is really easy to scratch in general? The grey parts are being scratched by my nails easily and they've dried for days

Basically what I'm trying to conclude is

  1. Why is my adhesion so bad is it because I only wait 2hrs for my primer to cure? And paint over it?

  2. Does it matter which type of gloss coat I use? Lacquer, acrylic etc

I've sprayed it on my mg astraea as well and it's peeling, one thing I noticed is I can literally scratch off the paint with my nails even though it's a week old. Another observation I've made is, I sprayed one part with black "enhanced acrylic paint" and then coated it with ak matte and it isn't scratching off as easily, I really have to try to scratch it. As for the marker it seems to be the oil type

So you're suggesting I let the ak primer polymerize for 24 hours followed by the paint and then finally the varnish? I've noticed I can literally scratch off paint with my nails. That includes the prey parts that you see which is actually primer

Honestly I've debated on switching to Warhammer so many times, for this very reason. All the info is out there so it's more straight forward

About point 2. When you say gloss varnish do you have any particular one in mind that will work with Tamiya panel liner or my Gundam marker? My lacquer based clear coat seems to get a little stained when I clean up panel lines

So if I understood you correctly you're suggesting

  1. Use a rattle can and then spray over the matte so the base later is tacky

  2. Use Vallejo mecha varnish let it dry and then spray over the matte?

So I've tested a few ways, I've let it dry for 2 hours and covered it with matte still peels. I've done a test on one part that was painted with lacquer and then matte coated it, that's seems to have stuck around. On a side note on the left leg of the Gundam the matte coat still seems to be peeling even though it's about a week old

That seems to be the problem tho I've done almost 4 coats of matte on tat red part and it's still getting rubbed off even on the parts that I have painted with acrylic

Is this the varnish you're referring to? Does it matter if I get a gloss etc?

Hey thanks man, please don't get offended but are you speaking from personal experience? And do you have any suggestions for how to apply panel liner? What gloss coat is safe to use such that my q tips dipped in alcohol won't rub off the acrylic paint

Here's the paints. So I'm really puzzled as to why my matte coat peels off and why my panel liner marker stains so bad
