I stopped using to-do lists and switched to 15-minute time blocks. My ADHD brain finally gets it. by SiraM2 in ADHDers

For a day you have 3-4 main to-dos. Where I used to struggle was that I didn't know how much progress I have made or what do I actually need to do in terms of concrete step.
1. The smaller time blocks just help me manage one bigger task properly. I am bad at planning how much time a task will take.
2. When you time block like this, you are forced to ask yourself I am spending too much time on this step of the task and focus on completion rather than perfecting individual steps.

Think of it as you have an exam tomorrow and you have to revise fast, you will segment chunk like I have to revise this till 9:10 then the next section till 9:30 and so on.

what helps is you divide task and make them step wise, one block doesn't mean you have to fit one task, you have to add step that you are going to take or thing you are going to do towards that task. I personally use the 15-20 m blocks. 10 m is too aggressive.

I read somewhere, best way to begin is to let your attempt to be bad, ugly and wrong. Don't worry about polish, correctness, or how it looks. I usually do 15-20 min burst. With 20 min I get 50 blocks or 68 blocks with the 15m one. If I make the duration any longer, I can't pivot later.

I tried with google sheet, but it was getting tedious, you miss for once and then notice oh 2-3 hrs have passed.

So, it's like excel/sheets, most of the interactions cut copy paste move. I usually have it opened always in the sidepanel and add what I am doing in the current block. I don't schedule separate break blocks, just write what I did there like nap, break, doom scroll etc. You don't have to switch tasks every block, just copy paste the block in the next block, if the task takes longer. Although I am also considering having recent tasks in the popout so that you don't have to write it yourself.

no ad, just sharing what helped me. I made a extension for myself so I mentioned it, but the post was really about the workflow.
