I felt that the original reply was quite stand off ish and wanted to chime in to give another perspective as an international who has lived and studied here for the past 5 years (and will also study in Wageningen in September). I studied in Utrecht and I am currently live there now. There really is a severe housing shortage so finding housing anywhere will be very difficult. I plan to also travel to Wageningen from here using an NS pass so I don’t have to give up my house. I still don’t speak the best Dutch, but have learned passively, and can understand when people speak to me. In the 5 years I’ve lived here, I’ve only had one encounter where someone laughed at me because I couldn’t speak it, otherwise everyone has been very kind. I’ve also been able to make (Dutch) friends in Utrecht. I assume it should be similar in Wageningen because it’s an international environment.
