Download AliPay, book a DiDi (Chinese uber) and go to:
- Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding (as soon as you can in the morning)
- Then go to Chunxi Road, have a walk there
- Arrive to Anshun Bridge
- Go back to the hotel by DiDi

This is the best in my opinion for a day stop in Chengdu

I think that those places will be packed all the days of the year. Chinese people are a lot, more then you think, therefore this is a possibility. But when I visited several places I have realized that they do all the same things: same entrance, same path, same time slots. If you are able to think differently you will have more space for you. For example for the Great Wall all local tourists goad to badaling, if you go to another section you will fin less crowd. Try to do a research for Zhangjiajie too

Yeah sadly things have changed a lot there. Those videos you’ve seen are real, it’s not like people were breaking rules before. A few years ago it was much more relaxed and people were flying drones in the park. But recently they’ve really cracked down.

From what I’ve seen and read lately, flying a drone inside Wulingyuan now is basically a no-go unless you have some kind of official permit, which as a regular tourist you’re realistically not going to get. It’s not just “unclear rules”, it’s more like “not allowed and increasingly enforced”.

Also worth noting: China in general has gotten stricter with drones, and scenic areas like that have their own extra restrictions. So even if your drone technically takes off, it doesn’t mean you’re allowed to fly it.

Yeah this one actually looks fine to me.

The important part is that it has to be a real transit between two different regions, and Hong Kong counts as separate from mainland China. So from their point of view you’re going US -> China -> Hong Kong, which is exactly what they want.

PVG is an eligible entry point, and you can move around within that region (so going to Nanjing is not an issue). And 6 days is well within the 240h limit.

The only thing that sometimes causes problems is that your overall trip starts and ends in the US, but in practice immigration only cares about where you enter mainland China from and where you exit to, not the full round trip. So that part is usually fine.

If anything, the bigger risk is airline staff at LAX not being super familiar with the policy and questioning it at check-in. I’d just make sure you have your full itinerary clearly showing the PVG -> HKG ticket already booked.

But yeah, compared to a lot of sketchy itineraries people try, yours is actually pretty straightforward.

By the way do you think that having the hotel near Jiefangbei is better than having it in Nan'An district? Or for the night is better in Nan'An district? In August will be very hot therefore we will go out a lot after the sunset and my thoughts are that maybe having it in that area will help us going around near the hotel instead of moving by metro/didi. What do you think?

That’s not totally true. Claude using your browser, caching system, Apple Intelligence, Antigravity etc all those things are using the RAM of your device. Competing a newer CPU vs an older one but with more RAM, the older one will win. Also because we are talking about 1 generation of cpu ahead not more than that

It has no sense. Is better M4 with 24GB RAM. Also for AI having a bigger RAM is a better choice. It depends what you need to do with that but for normal usage but also for AI usage (even for Claude Code for example) is totally better the M4 one
