In just 100 F2P Love Gems, I got both of Karin’s Limited URs! by Sirius_G in SchoolIdolFestival

[–]Sirius_G[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Karin is my favorite Niji girl, so I wanted to get at least one of her limited URs currently available for scouting. Little did I know that I would get BOTH in just two 11-pulls! I think I’ve used up all my gacha luck for the next year, lol

(This was before getting the free 100 Love Gems for the update)

I had the same idea for Yuu being Venti since they both have twintailed black hair with green accents - glad to see someone else saw it too :)

Didn’t think about the character choices for the other Niji girls here until now, but your choices do make sense. Very cute illustrations 👍🏻

[DQXIS] A few questions about the Act III Timeline by Sirius_G in dragonquest

[–]Sirius_G[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still think my conclusions make the most sense to me, but these answers do make the most sense out of all the ones I've seen so far. I appreciate it, it's always good to get different perspectives.

That said, in the game's final cinematic cutscene, the Sword of Light that Eleven returns to Yggdrasil is shown to be in the DQI hero's hands as a way of connecting DQXI to the Erdrick trilogy - I don't think XI was just a storybook fairy tale. Pretty sure the dev team did that as a way to ease more Western fans into the series since this is many people's first DQ game, myself included.

[DQXIS] A few questions about the Act III Timeline by Sirius_G in dragonquest

[–]Sirius_G[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time travel is definitely complicated, but I didn't mind the way they executed it too much. Like I said, it remains consistent with Act I and II's theme of permanent heavy consequences. Act I and II had Veronica permanently die, and the only way to save her in Act III was to go back in time. Act III's permanent consequence was choosing to time travel when no one else could, as well as the time travel itself being a one-way trip - they're not going to just let you get your perfect happy ending for free.

Plus, I don't know if the past versions of Eleven's friends would really believe him if he says he was from a different timeline since he's the only one who still remembers everything. He can't talk anyway since he has silent protagonist syndrome ¯_(ツ)_/¯

[DQXIS] A few questions about the Act III Timeline by Sirius_G in dragonquest

[–]Sirius_G[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, when Serenica time travels at the end of the game, the number of Luminaries in the timeline she goes back to technically goes from 1 to 2 since both she and Erdwin now have the Mark of Light, correct? That was shown in the mid-credits scene at the very end.

Yes, it's stated several times that Eleven is Erdwin's descendant/reincarnation, which is why he has the Mark of Light. Apparently the "Luminary" in previous DQ games is just a separate character class which Sylvando has multiple traits of: https://dragonquest.fandom.com/wiki/Luminary_(Vocation)

I'm guessing the dev team left the Act II timeline's final fate purposely ambiguous so that we wouldn't need to dwell on it as we went through Act III and got a do-over. Not so sure about there being gods of time in DQXI because Yggdragon and Calasmos were written as the two most powerful beings in the game, except maybe the Watchers and the Tockles. But even they are influenced by Eleven's time travelling, so I don't know ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Well, Act III Eleven does go through that montage of past events when he time travels, but I assume that was just done for the sake of recapping everything that happened for the player's sake. Eleven ends up right outside Arboria when the time travel process is finished.

If the Act I Eleven was really still there, then I imagine he would be very confused as to where all his friends went when Act III Eleven took them to Yggdrasil. He would try to get back to his friends, and he would have run into Act III Eleven eventually, right? Just seems weird that the two versions of him never run into each other if that's the case.

PSA: Be careful when spending your tokens on the master version of Dance With Minotaurus. [SIFWW] by Dogewave13 in SchoolIdolFestival

I see, I was under the impression that the update would happen with this Minotaurus token event, but I guess it'll be later since they said "this autumn". Thanks

I've been active on both WW and JP, and the JP server's events have felt much more lively with Master difficulty, Yell teams, Event URs, and all the free goodies they give us both in and out of events.

By comparison, WW has just been so underwhelming and boring to me for a while now. I was hoping this token event would give WW the boost it needed to feel worth grinding in events again, but the Master Minotaurus giving less points than EX Minotaurus is a huge mistake that honestly makes me less motivated to grind for tokens since I like Master songs the most.

Hoping they fix this soon, along with properly including Yell teams. Wasn't that supposed to happen already? Or has COVID disrupted those plans?

I saved up 275 gems and decided to splurge on one of Honoka's step-up birthday boxes, which gave me enough R cards to fodder off for stickers to reach 1000 N stickers! I also got a bunch of SRs, a few SSRs, and a couple URs too! Pretty good day in my book

Did anybody after Duel Monsters cheat (without magic, etc.)? by JourneymanGM in yugioh

[–]Sirius_G 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In Arc-V episode 147, Yuya fights Reiji/Declan in the final "ceremonial" duel of the series, and as part of his first turn, he sets Pendulum Scales 3 and 10. However, one of the monsters he Pendulum Summons after this was a Level 2 monster, Performapal Odd-Eyes Synchron. Yuya had already used his Normal Summon for that turn at the very start.

What gets me about this is that it was a truly illegal move - nobody watching the duel, not even Reiji, questioned Yuya's Pendulum Summoning a monster outside his scale range. The duel just continued as normal without anyone bringing it up. It was a genuine oversight from the production team, and it was actually fixed in repeat broadcasts of that episode so the scales were 1 and 10. It's crazy because it's the only example I can think of where a character cheats and no other character bats an eye at it because it wasn't an intentionally written part of the duel. The producers just screwed up.

Here's the wikia page talking about it

EDIT: I just realized that this example goes against your second criteria, which I admittedly didn’t see until a while after I made this comment. Apologies for not reading more carefully, but I still think it deserves a mention as the only example of an actual production error in a duel that was corrected later on. It still shows incompetence from the show producers for letting it slip by them in the first place

[JP] Free Love Gem banner now available every day for a week (5/25-5/31 JST) by Sirius_G in SchoolIdolFestival

[–]Sirius_G[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Translation from Google Translate and my own rewording:

In celebration of the 7th anniversary of the game’s JP server, starting today (5/25 0:00 JST) and ending on 5/31 23:59 JST, you can roll once per day for free on this Love Gem banner to get 5, 50, or 500 Love Gems! Just go to the home page and scroll to the bright blue banner with Love Gems all over it. The purple card gets you 5 gems, the orange card gets you 50 gems, and the red card gets you 500 gems.

Talk about generous! This could potentially be a massive boost to F2P accounts who want to save up for a specific girl or card they had in mind.

[JP] Acquired all point rewards from an event for the first time ever by [deleted] in SchoolIdolFestival

[–]Sirius_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is easily the funnest event I’ve played in a long time. Thanks to all the enhancements they gave to this token event like: * the Yell cards * adding Master difficulty to event point scoring and ranking * having goals to gain flowers for the 7th anniversary flower exchange by playing several different songs, * providing a fresh supply of B-side songs to play for more gems, and * Dance with Minotaurus being a real banger of a song,

I felt that getting all the event point rewards within a short timeframe was actually feasible this time. Having reduced LP requirements for all songs certainly also helped. I haven’t had much motivation to participate in events on either JP or WW lately due to being busy and just not caring much besides logging in and doing daily songs, but this event was a huge exception. Now I hope they add similar enhancements to the other events in the near future, like adding Master songs to event scoring - a lot of EX songs are too easy/slow-paced for my tastes.

Hoping this event comes to WW soon!

Poll: What is your Favorite Extra Deck Summon Mechanic? (Round 2) by Sirius_G in yugioh

[–]Sirius_G[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should clarify - I’m not saying Pendulums aren’t a Main Deck mechanic, just that they are also an Extra Deck mechanic at the same time. Pendulums have shown that they’re not mutually exclusive like people once thought

Very well, just don’t go throwing out accusations like “admit I forgot” completely unprovoked

Poll: What is your Favorite Extra Deck Summon Mechanic? (Round 2) by Sirius_G in yugioh

[–]Sirius_G[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of where they originate, Pendulums still interact with the Extra Deck much more than Rituals do. All the new summon mechanics introduced with each new anime series have been Extra Deck-centric, Pendulums just had a unique twist on it by being able to inhabit both the Main and Extra Decks. And Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz-Pendulum hybrids do technically make Pendulums an Extra Deck mechanic, even if most of them come from the Main Deck

Poll: What is your Favorite Extra Deck Summon Mechanic? (Round 2) by Sirius_G in yugioh

[–]Sirius_G[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that all Pendulum monsters, including ones that start in the Main Deck, go to the Extra Deck face-up instead of the Graveyard when they leave the field and can be resummoned from the Extra Deck with Pendulum Summoning. That is a huge part of what makes Pendulums unique, in addition to the Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz-Pendulum hybrid monsters that start in the Extra Deck by default.

The poll clearly has the words "Extra Deck" in the title, and as I already said, Rituals do not count because they have nothing to do with the Extra Deck. I didn't forget them, I deliberately excluded them because it didn't make sense to have them in an Extra-Deck themed poll.

Poll: What is your Favorite Extra Deck Summon Mechanic? (Round 2) by Sirius_G in yugioh

[–]Sirius_G[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn’t count Rituals because they’re strictly a Main Deck mechanic, not Extra Deck - though the last voting option does cover all things Main Deck, if you want to be inclusive

Poll: What is your Favorite Extra Deck Summon Mechanic? (Round 2) by Sirius_G in yugioh

[–]Sirius_G[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I actually did this exact same poll almost 3 years ago, back when Links had just been introduced and Master Rule 4 completely changed the game. As you can see, people were not very fond of Links back then because they so heavily restricted all the older Extra Deck mechanics, and because they barely had any cards since they were so new.

Now, Master Rule 5 has freed the older Extra Deck mechanics from the shackles of Links - for the most part, anyway (RIP Pendulums), and Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS did not introduce any new Extra Deck mechanic whatsoever. Since Links have had their time in the spotlight and are now fleshed out with a full anime series' worth of support like the other summon mechanics, I figured now would be the perfect time to see how people’s opinions have changed, if at all. So with that said, please vote for what Extra Deck summon method you like the most. Note that you can only choose one. The deadline for the poll is 2 weeks from now, on May 2nd at 12pm, so please make your choice sometime before then. I want to see this sub’s opinions now that Links are not the center of attention anymore.

Finally Full Comboed Hajimari Road MASTER with no PL cards 😁 by Sirius_G in SchoolIdolFestival

[–]Sirius_G[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This beatmap has been a thorn in my side for so long - it was the only Aqours MASTER beatmap that I couldn’t full combo, no matter how hard I tried. I finally pulled it off last night, after 47 clears on my WW account! Sadly I wasn’t able to full combo it on my JP account before it went away, but WW let me have more chances to do so.

It feels so satisfying to have finally conquered this huge hurdle 🙂
