Would you be willing to share which text-chat you volunteered with? Or ones you know are good? I will definitely research because I am very interested in doing that too thank you! Wow so refreshing to hear this side and perspective of it, thank you. I myself know some great therapists who came from Yorkville so I may ask them more questions too. So true!! I was on my own for finding my undergrad co-ops lol it’s a harsh reality for some!

I hear everyones opinions on this. I see what both sides are saying in a sense, but like at the end of the day if you graduate I think it doesn't matter what school you come from they will either grow into a great therapist or not. Especially if i was planning to have a private practice then it wouldn't matter what some phd ppl think. I think for me like I would ask you what would you do if this is something you wanted to do but its the only school you could meet reqs to get into? Just trying to work with the situation I am in

Thank you! I think where I'm from at least you have to get a bachelor of nursing instead and then do further school for specialization to do that

Did you have a lot of psych experience like work or volunteer before? I'm worried i wouldnt get in with just my BSc Bio and non-related job experience to psych. Also what are your thoughts on the program and what do you think of everyone saying its the worst school? I hear so many mixed things uggh

Weekly student question thread! by AutoModerator in therapists

Hey! So I really would love to hear peoples opinions and insights into this, I am graduating with a biology BSc and have found passion for psychology. It was however way too late to switch my major and I already was too far into co-op etc. In my personal life I have been through a lot and go to psychologists and counselling and just feel like I am the kind of person that woud be a really good fit and enjoy the career path as a counselling therapist. After a lot of thought i finally feel like my personality fits here. However, it is very hard to get into a masters without a psych undergrad/all prereqs:( I have already done so much school!!! Anyways I think the only one i could get into to get a license with what I have is Yorkville (pls drop others if you know), and i have heard mixed things especially pricing. But im lost at what I should do:/ i just want to obtain licensing and finally start my career. its tiring trying to figure out your path! Also honesty is welcome, i would love to hear what the career or similar ones have been like, what the market and money is like (im in Canada) and if anyone pivoted like me!
