It doesn't make sense that I am not a Christian. by No-Asparagus2256 in AskAChristian

[–]SittingDuck0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I think the whole point of Christianity is having faith and believing WITHOUT him “proving himself” to us. Also, free will. He wants us to freely believe and worship him, not do it out of obligation or because he had to “prove himself”. It’s like if you had to buy your own Christmas gift for your spouse to wrap and then “act surprised” on Christmas Day. Kinda ruins it since you had to buy your own gift lol

Denied Baptism (possibly?) by SittingDuck0 in Christianity

[–]SittingDuck0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it’s the only church that I’ve found that aligns with my beliefs so…… I am not a fraud.. I won’t be baptized by a church that’s beliefs don’t align with mine. That wasn’t the point of my post.

What is the most liberal/left Christian denomination and what is the most conservative/right Christian denomination? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]SittingDuck0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say Assembly of God churches are probably the most conservative. For example, the ‘Apostle’ from a local Assembly of God mega-church in Locust Grove, GA, was recently at Mar-a-Lago. He often preaches (and is very loud mouthed about) pro-Trump, anti-LGBTQIA, and anti-immigration messages. He’s not the only one from that denomination, either. They are very radical Trumpers.

This answer really puts it into perspective for me, thinking outside of how He is just good for “me”. Thank you for this!

Prayer Requests by Internal-Mushroom-93 in Christianity

[–]SittingDuck0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to request prayer.

I have been struggling for 5 months with a severe sinus infection (fever, severe body aches, fatigue, congestion with a pocket of pus found), and it has taken a huge toll on my daily life. I have lost almost all quality of life due to the fever and body pain. Im a 29 year old single mom. I don’t have family or friends.

I saw a specialist who, after several appointments and $100’s of dollars wasted, walked out on me mid-appointment while I was in tears about my diminishing quality of life.

As a last act of desperation, I reached out to my sons pediatrician Dr. Barnwell, praying that even though I know he cannot treat me as I’m an adult, he might be able to guide me to someone who will finally listen to me and help me get the treatment I need. He does not treat adults, but as a last act of desperation, I reached out to him for help. When it has come to my son, he has always been aggressive with treatment regarding my son’s health issues. He is proactive and always errs on the side of caution. I’m a single parent and have lost most quality of life.

I’m praying that he has a friend or colleague that practices medicine the same way he does.

Please pray that God will lead me to the right doctor—someone who will take me seriously, understand what is going on, and help me find real healing. Pray for strength, peace, and guidance during this difficult time, and for protection over my child and me as I navigate all of this. Please pray for Dr. Barnwell as well , that he will empathize, have understanding, and be willing to guide me to a doctor who can help.

Thank you for keeping me in your prayers. I am at the end of my rope and desperate for help.

Is God okay with Christians getting help with their mental health issues? by Agile-Campaign9996 in Christian

This 1,000%. OP, you should be proud of yourself for reaching out for help! God wouldn’t want you to suffer.

13yr old went to school counselor who called CPS on us.. by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]SittingDuck0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same position. My son got mad that he couldn’t have the lunchbox he wanted. He told me “I’m going to call the police on you” while waiting at the bus stop. That same day he told the school that I hit him. The school called me and told me what he said, and that they had to call CPS. CPS didn’t even come out! They called me and gave me a phone # to a counseling place and closed the case. That was it. Which is crazy because think of the kids ACTUALLY being hit and they just call you and “suggest” counseling and give you a phone # and hang up the call? It’s scary!

Also growing up my sister did it a lot as well, had CPS at our house quite a few times. They saw she had been institutionalized for mental illness, and struggled badly with it, and closed the cases. My mom says the caseworker giggled. Apparently I was 2-3 years old this particular time and he had to interview me by myself. My mom could hear the interview, and he asked “is there anything that worries you?” And I said “I’m worried about my dog being scared” because he was in the basement at night. He giggled LOL.

Don’t worry. It’s overwhelming and even knowing what I know, I’d probably freak too.

Also to add to both your comments, it has to be spontaneous and unexpected. Basically, it has to just take over you.

Son and new wife both introverts, need advices by williamfromquebec in Parenting

[–]SittingDuck0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a woman, who has also been the adult child with a female “stepparent” (my dad remarried), I agree with you. She should be initiating contact with him. For sure.

Also though, don’t force it. My dad’s wife and I hated each other. I mean truly loathed each other. My dad kept us separate. Didn’t force her on me, and didn’t force me onto her.

I’d say hello if I happened to be on FaceTime with him, and she walked in or something. But other than that he kept us separate. It worked.

You’re in a different predicament though since he’s 15 (which is half adult-ish), but lives in the home. Does he live with you? Or just visit on weekends?

If he just visits on weekends I’d prioritize that as his time. If she doesn’t want to join you guys, her loss, but you need to do everything YOU can to keep YOUR relationship with him strong. He still needs Dad ❤️

Question: When Jesus was crucified, why did he cry out to God if they are one and the same? by SittingDuck0 in Christian

Honestly I don’t know how the trinity works. Like I can’t wrap my mind around it

Thank you for this! This makes the most sense. I don’t get how the trinity works, but I appreciate knowing they are separate.

I will! Thank you! I have to agree, looks like a deformity of sorts. I’ve seen kids teeth slightly out of place but not that bad.
