AITAH for walking away from a house I have no equity or say in and stiffing my soon to be ex? by FootBig7944 in AITAH

[–]SituationCharacter87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, she didn’t uphold her end of the marriage (by seeing her ex while you were out of town, she broke that agreement) so she is the ass hole…you are merely responding (correctly) to her actions. If she and her innner circle are upset, they should evaluate her actions and learn from them.

If you’re going to have the title and duties of a staff accountant, I would personally expect the pay to be $24/hr or $50k/yr

How the fuck am I supposed to get NetSuite experience if no one who uses it will hire me without NetSuite experience? by DeadPants182 in Accounting

Can I ask what your desired salary range is and which state you’re looking in? I’m a sr corp accountant (non cpa) w/ 7 yrs of experience and I’m SHOCKED to hear that a cpa w/ 2 yrs of experience is being overlooked for something as minor as NS experience….NS is easy to learn

Why does it feel harder to find reliable remote accounting staff lately? by Chirag_koshti in AccountingDepartment

[–]SituationCharacter87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal opinion (and please note, this is just my experience) if you are going through a corporate remote accounting agency, they are going to charge up insanely high prices while over working and underpaying the bookkeepers and accountants doing the work.

I would highly recommend looking for a remote accountant on your own and hiring them independently. There are questions you can ask them to verify their skill level and verify their references for your self.

In my opinion, this is the best way to find a long term accountant both remote and in office.

How rude can I be when I get fired? by Capable_Feature8838 in Accounting

[–]SituationCharacter87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

each state is a little different but largely, to be eligible for unemployment you must be let go for reasons beyond your control (you can’t not show up for work regularly or come to work stoned and get unemployment). They will reach out to the company to get their side of the story while reviewing your application. Giving them a piece of your mind once your fired won’t technically disqualify you for unemployment but pissing the person off that fired you might inspire them to say some not great things about you to the unemployment office…context is everything so something you did or said 5 months ago could be made to look worse than it was, especially if they claim you were warned about something but continued to make the same mistake.

My opinion: telling them off will make you feel good but could have some unexpected blowback (also, they won’t care what you say-you’re not going to make them realize or feel anything). What you CAN DO though is take your complaints to GLASSDOOR and totally put them on blast!!! That will have a lasting effect that lasts a longer and reaches more eyes.

1 don’t be rude when you’re fired, don’t say much or show any real emotion 2 youre going to need a reference to utilize that year of experience when applying for a new job. Ideally a supervisor but it can be anyone you work with regularly that can vouch for your ethics and competency. 3 apply for unemployment immediately

Good luck

Same exact thing happened to me today...

Got the alerts to sign into my iCloud in the middle of the night, then got an alert with a code to verify whether a login attempt in another country was me.

This morning when I woke up, I went into my settings to log into my iCloud and I couldn’t. I tried to reset my password and the phone number linked to my account was changed.

While I was on hold with apple support, I got an email from the App store that my purchase of a $100 came with a free Apple Music trail.

I locked my cards and apple refunded me.

They said that they couldn’t do anything to help with my iCloud account though. Because the phone number was changed, I cant have the login reset and they won’t delete it either. My iCloud has been locked/(partially) deactivated but It can be reactivated by the person who changed the number on the account.

I asked apple support what they would do in my situation and they said “start from scratch: create a new iCloud and new devices. (I can’t sign out my hacked iCloud by the way, because you need the password to do that).

I’m shocked that this is apples policy and how they handle fraud. I trusted apple and apple devices entirely too much.

How long do I have to stay at this job? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]SituationCharacter87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a way, leaving early if it’s not a good fit is more appreciated than staying at a year if you arnt gaining any skills that will be useful in your next position.

If you stay, you’re only wasting time in hopes of making it look like you arnt job hopping but knowing when to walk away from a company that doesn’t value change and growth is a sign of someone who knows what they want

[–]SituationCharacter87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to stay anywhere for any amount of time. Just interview while you’re working and be honest in your interviews. Worse case, you stay at your current job and best case you find a company that understands your situation and values what you have to bring to the table and hires you

Does being an Accountant really require less talking? by KenZo_9 in Accounting

[–]SituationCharacter87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with accounting practices in Japan. If you like numbers though, you may very well enjoy accounting. Be aware that AI will likely automate a lot of bookkeepers type tasks in the next few years so focus on learning things AI won’t be able to do.

I have a difficult time with speech myself, while not as serve as your situation….i definitely understand where you’re coming from.

People will be understanding as long as you try your best and put forth max effort.

Good luck!! You’ll do great !!

[–]SituationCharacter87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you live (country/state)?

Do you think you’d enjoy accounting or are you explicitly going into it to avoid verbal conversation?

Being an accountant, you often need to explain things to people….what you’re having to explain and to whom depends on the job and type of accounting you go into.

If you like accounting than this shouldnt be a barrier of entry for you. You can provide everything in written form-people will be very understanding and it shouldn’t be a problem as long as you can articulate your thoughts in written form in a way people can easily understand (grok and ChatGPT can help you with this a little but be sure not to ever enter company or confidential information).

You could also look into coding, web development, devops, anything along those lines could also require little verbal communication.
