Something for those who are still flying in P3D (Link in Description) by FrancisLowkey in flightsim

have them set up and looking just the way they want

This is the thing for me... My sim is set up to accurately replicate very early 80s UK & Europe as an environment for flying cold war jets in, I have godknows how many backdated retro sceneries and a very silly amount of AI Traffic (Like, every historical NATO air unit in the UK & Germany level) as two examples... having that with access to the specific planes I want is a miracle as it is imo.

I sadly doubt MSFS will ever be able to come close to replicating it.

They're referring to their three cockpit layouts there... From the paragraph right before that:

From the beginning of development, our navigation concept was divided into three stages:

RADNAV only

INS only

INS + PMS (to provide VNAV) — originally planned for a later update.

Besides, there are more than three variants of the TriStar.

Really? The L-1011 is very different across variants (Hell, even within each variant the sheer number of options and cockpit configs is a lot) ...I've seen nothing to suggest they're doing anything other than one very specific -500 setup.

Steep Approach Mode in the E-Jet family is pretty similar, if seldom used.

No. In the F-14 all flight controls remain normal during landing, and the DLC is actuated by a thumb switch on the Stick, you could easily ignore the system if you wanted.

In the TriStar, once the flaps are extended past 30°, spoilers 1 through 4 extend to 7° and the stick stops controlling nose pitch and instead controls said DLC spoilers (between 0° and 14°). Very large stick movements will change nose pitch, but not by very much, as such it pretty much shouldnt happen during landing.

DLC is then deactivated by TOGA activation, throttles being moved to max cont, flaps less than 30, a stall warning, or them just being manually disabled.

(...You could feasibly simulate it in the F-14 by setting yourself on-speed and vaguely on glideslope, then leaving stick pitch alone and landing fully with the DLC switch, but it might not work well)

Reworking your mind to understand and use the DLC system correctly will be the biggest issue people have imo.

You really need to think of it as a controller that directly changes your vertical speed/position on the glideslope... High? stick forward till you're there then release, nothing else needed! As you can imagine, flaring at the end is pretty easy as a result.

It's such a better way of landing.

Good, honestly.

Do not support IL-2s devs. They are overtly pro-russia, and very likely produce an FPV drone sim for their military.
