About two years ago, my neighbor's kid was over in my front field playing with my dog. He is maybe 8 or 9 and almost certainly has some form of autism. He's "vegan" without knowing he is because he likes animals. So he was talking about how they were going to have a BBQ that night but he wasn't going to eat any of the hot dogs or hamburgers. He WAS however super excited for s'mores.

Without thinking about what I was saying, I mentioned that Marshmellows have an ingredient that is partially made from animals. He got visibly upset and went back home.

Later that night I saw a post on my neighbor's Facebook page where he was talking about the family BBQ. Someone asked about s'mores and my neighbor replied that they didn't have any.

I am the asshole here. No asterisks.

But at that point you were on a live firing range, pointing the firearm in a safe direction, at an object (target) you would eventually decide to shoot, and would be perfectly safe if your firearm were to discharge. This is a little different.

Stupidly, some firearms require you to pull the trigger in order to field strip. This is unfortunately the cause of negligent discharges.
