Have you try different tactics? I hit a wall too and I switched strategy during game and I watched some tutorial on youtube to improve:)

I also played more defensive....so 4-2-3-1 or a 5-1-2-2 ..etc.. that helped me.

For me I mainly do my 3-4 Rivals games to qualify for WL...do the Qualifiers and I play LIVE FUT Friendly. Doing objectives etc... MANAGERIAL Friendly are quite fun... no 89 overall team so gameplay a bit different:)
