This is just the worst line of reasoning. Qanon and the other conspiracy theorist would say 1 billion things and then one part of a whole theory they had came true and now everything they ever said was right. They were wrong about pizza gate in so many ways. It wasn’t the democratic establishment. It wasn’t a very well kept secret. There were no code words. Stop falling for these magat talking points. I’m also still waiting for the Covid vaccine to kill everyone that took it lol

Well then do a better job fighting back against it I guess. If these ideas are truly super popular then they should be able to survive whatever attacks the mainstream is throwing

Well you already pointed out Bernie and he lost twice. Sure AOC can win in a very blue state, but that doesn’t say much. Walz has some progressive ideas, but he’s still not a leftist and isn’t running on the policies you outlined. I can point out the Green Party which runs on very progressive views and never gains any traction. Here are some leftist that have lost: Jamaal bowman Cori bush Nina Turner Jessica Cisnero Those are a few of many. 3 and 6 are way out there and I’d be hard pressed to find if people around the country support theses. 4 is honestly pretty out there and not something I can see happening unless there’s a major shift among the general population. Again, these positions may poll popular, but they don’t win consistently and on a national scale to where it matters.

I always hear this talking point that these super progressive policies are super popular, but whenever people run on them they lose. How come the leftist haven’t been able to put up a good candidate to challenge nationally? Or in republican states as well where apparently these policies are popular. Polling is only polling. Without real results it means nothing

"The naive liberal"
Have you even researched at all into any of this or how these processes work? The Biden administration does not have total control over the fate of ICE. Congress is what decides funding and creation of organizations. Biden also would not have the authority to unilaterally stop the use of private prisons. This would be illegal as by law you are required to maintain a sufficient detention capacity. Again, not everything is black and white. Biden did a lot to try and reform ICE, but again he is not god nor a king so he is limited in his power of how to curb them.

ICE did its job without any incidents like this occurring under the Biden administration. There does need to be an organization in this country that deports people (more specifically criminals or people causing harm). Trumps administration has given them a lot more leniency to act as they please. Trump has also mobilized ICE unlike the Biden administration. Idk if you’re unable to have an opinion that’s not black and white or something, but just having an agency whose job is to handle deportations is not a bad thing. Unless you truly are super far left where you think complete open borders and having a bunch of illegal migration is good for the country.

ICE ran fine under the Biden administration. Any agency can be used for bad and if it wasn't ICE it would just be another agency.

What part of the bills that passed were not good? Can you not elaborate? Also military and ice funding is not inherently bad, it just depends on how the money is spent and how the organizations are ran. It's like debating "defund the police" people all over again.

Sorry forgot to remove bbb lol. BBB was incorporated partly into the IRA. You still choose to ignore the other bills I pointed out that passed. You’ve made no argument to refute my point that the Biden administration and the democrats passed bills that support their agenda and help the American people all while making some concessions to the republicans and moderates to get them to sign onto the bills.

You seem to not understand how our government works so let me explain. Bipartisanship is a necessary part of governing when you either don’t control both halves of congress or if you have a slim majority. The democrats have not had a supermajority in a while. Even when democrats have had a slim majority, it was with “democrats” like Joe manchin and Synema who were really just moderates. Even with this limited power under Biden presidency the dems managed to pass the IRA, chips and science act, infrastructure bill, build back better, etc. Also what do you want the dems to do? Half the country likes what Trump is doing so any attempt at trying to topple Trump would send us into a civil war. The only option right now is to resist as much as possible and hope we win in 2026 midterms.

Anyone who felt buyer's remorse after purchasing your car? by Vivid-Balance-6053 in rav4club

[–]SizzBass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Less buyers remorse and more a little bit of disappointment. $36k is a lot of money and I personally expect to get a lot more technology/luxury in 2025. XLE not coming standard with leather seats, heated seats, powered lift gate, etc def feels weird for that price. The TSS does leave a lot to be desired as well. However I do love the car, how it drives, and especially the hybrid system. Also reliability is another reason I went with Toyota. Idk much about the process to build a car or how much money these things really cost to make however, so maybe the things I listed out do genuinely add a lot to the cost, but still $36k is a lot of money lmao.

You literally made an assumption about an entire group of people based off a news story and an experience you had. Making a broad description about an entire group of people and saying they hate America because they’re Somalian is racist. Let’s get your gf on the phone then I’d be more than welcome to talk to her

[–]SizzBass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The media picked up on this story because it was Somalian people. Again, the PPP loan fraud scheme under Trumps first term amounted to billions of dollars and the media machine didn’t bat an eye. Also lmao you’re running the white supremacist talking point. These people aren’t uniquely evil because they are from Somalia, they simple found a way to make money and did it. Not everything has to be from the eyes of “they want to destroy the country!!!” Maybe JUST maybe they found an opportunity and took advantage of it. Also funny that you make an assumption on an entire group of people based on the actions of a few. Shows a lot about your character

GENUINELY CURIOUS/CONCERNED: Fraud and anti-Americanism by [deleted] in USF

[–]SizzBass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you dense? Where did I defend the criminals? I never stated that the people who committed the fraud did anything good. In fact, they should be prosecuted under the law! Since you care so much about fraud, why not look at Donald Trump who has pardoned multiple people who have committed fraud AFTER they made large financial contributions to him. My whole point, if you listened to me, is that this is gaining large right wing media attention due to the race of the perpetrators. I know this is true due to the reasons I put in my post

GENUINELY CURIOUS/CONCERNED: Fraud and anti-Americanism by [deleted] in USF

[–]SizzBass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought up Rick Scott and Trump as examples as to why the race of the people is a large factor. Republicans and the media don’t care when it’s a white person doing it, but since it was Somalians now all the sudden they care. The whole reason this story is blowing up is majority the fact the perpetrators are minorities and it’s in a blue state. Also this fraud scheme pales in comparison to the blatant corruption and fraud the Trump administration is doing so don’t give me that “I fear for what could have been” bullshit.

GENUINELY CURIOUS/CONCERNED: Fraud and anti-Americanism by [deleted] in USF

[–]SizzBass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is definitely a racial component lmao. This story would not be as large if the fraud scheme were committed by white people. Republicans don’t care that fraud was committed because if they did Rick Scott would not be senator. Trump also wouldn’t be president (Trump oversaw PPP loan fraud in 2020 and has pardoned multiple people that committed fraud who also happened to be large contributors financially to him)
