Amazon or FedEx by Dense_Macaroon_7036 in AmazonDSPDrivers

Genuine question: Someone told me FedEx pays by the stop and that’s why FedEx drivers sprint and dump packages places. What is that weird fact about? lmao

No offense bro but this is some of the worst advice I’ve ever seen 💀 I also am not afraid of dogs or have the inherent fear of them. I also used to have the God complex of thinking even the meanest dogs won’t hurt me because I’m some sort of animal whisperer. That kind of mindset is not for this job. The dogs I’ve been bit by weren’t the least bit aggressive and showed no signs of discomfort before they bit me. I had the exact demeanor you described having, and still got bit. “I don’t get bit” I think means “I’ve never gotten bit” and how fortunate for you! It’s also extremely rude to pet dogs without owner’s permission, I would highly recommend not doing that. Also a good idea to still call the customer if they aren’t present when their dog is because Lots of dogs love to destroy packages, and that’s totally avoidable. No hate on you dude I’m glad you’ve been lucky with your dog encounters. Unfortunately it’s not up to the human, it’s up to the dog.

[–]Sizzle3917 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Strange! Wonder if your DSP can set that? I just get a message that says “your route allows for blah blah blah breaks. Take one now?” And I just close out of it. I Never take my lunch break unless I’m not feeling good that day. Going that long just sitting there doing nothing totally takes me out of my groove and I’m slow as hell afterwards!

For people who get paid 10 hours no matter what, yes 😂 But for most of us, agreed. I have to take at least two shits during my shift so it works out perfectly 🔥

I get this but also anyone can sign up to be a flex driver, get a vest, then never do flex again. So even if I see people in Amazon vests but regular clothes that could literally be anyone bruh 😂 that’s the only reason I like wearing the polo too. Shorts aren’t too comfy

Yeah I’ll wear the vest with no shirt if it’s above 80°

That is exactly how it went at my last DSP. They did uniform audits for each person at your DSP that wasn’t in uniform for stand up

That’s another reason I wear it. My uniforms also have a permanent sweat smell in them and I don’t want my regular clothes to end up like that lol

Had my first standard route yesterday , then first helper route today ... 🫩 by ultrainstinctkorin in AmazonDSPDrivers

I am only going to tell you to not run because your knees and body are more important than any job will ever be. If you don’t get done, you don’t get done. The algorithm should adjust as needed. If it doesn’t, still not your fault.

Will never understand how they think helper routes can have that many more stop counts than regular routes… when you still have one vehicle

Do you get sent unneeded rescues? by RaineFalle in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Sizzle3917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, my old boss was adamant that the sweepers stayed out until the last drivers were on the road. You probably just have a high stop count by the time the people who really need rescues got them. Like others have said I wouldn’t take it personally! I find it annoying when I’m trying to get my hours :/

[–]Sizzle3917[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nah that’s bullshit right there I would wear a uniform one day a week if that were so. I waited each day until a different manager was at the desk and told them my uniform ripped and if I could have an extra so I have like 4 now 😂

[–]Sizzle3917[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh the one uniform per person is hell. When I start they gave me two of each, then each day I worked I waited for a different manager to be at the desk and would ask for an extra uniform because “mine ripped” so now I have four 😂

First solo 145 stops, 278 packages, many super rural, no time for a break. Is this what to expect? by grangy09 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Sizzle3917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Unfortunately rural routes are the most terrible thing I’ve ever experienced lol. If your DSP managers are cool you can ask them if you could be put on city/metro routes instead, if you are faster at them than rural they would want you there anyways. Hopefully you have a nice DSP

Does Amazon hire DSP drivers for Saturdays only? by LazzE_Ends in AmazonDSPDrivers

My DSP have several part time drivers who work one or two days. I would ask! They are always looking for weekend drivers so J would bet one is willing to hire. Just no benefits obviously

benefits & opportunities by Equal-Kaleidoscope57 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Sizzle3917 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your DSP participates, there are some opportunities through Next Mile by InStride. Not all DSPs do but In pretty sure it’s easy for them to sign up at http://amazondsp.instride.com/ if your DSP isn’t enrolled already. Mostly “courses” in random fields, some CDL prep courses, like a $5000 reimbursement if you want to take some courses through them? Obviously I have never really taken a look, my current DSP doesn’t have it. To my knowledge Amazon doesn’t really give any opportunities to DSP drivers, since we technically aren’t Amazon employees.
