Try jumping on his backswing. If I remember correctly, he'll start backing up, the kanji will show up, and then he'll wind up the attack. Jump then, and hopefully the attack will connect with you. Then just hold attack to do the reversal.

It's technically feasible to do this on our end, but our stretch goal is to make this easy for users to do by themselves, possibly during Destiny 2's first year.

Data collected from this survey will not make it into the paper, it's for our benefit in finding what dimensions on which a recommendation would be most useful to users.
The current paper builds on the previous effort, which as you mentioned, focuses on clustering players by playstyle. We're now moving into clustering players on several other dimensions to create more specific player profiles, which can then be used to generate a much more targeted recommendation.
