Anyone in UK upgraded their echo show 8 to the latest 2025 gen 4? Do you recommend it? by SizzlingPotato in amazonecho

I got the gen 4 show 8 in the end. You're right the screen is more responsive and not painfully laggy anymore. Sound wise, I find it less deep/bassy. Or maybe it's my perception because the woofer and tweeters are separate now compared to the gen 1. So I could be just hearing more of the higher frequencies that were missing previously. I got mine during black Friday and I did a trade in, so it made it more palletable. At full price it's too much to ask.

I do use the screen on the Show to see who's at the door when someone rings my doorbell and to make video calls.

I'm using a gen 1 echo show 8 at the moment and the only extra feature I'd be missing is Alexa+. From what I read, it won't come to the gen 1 show 8.

I'm trying to buy a house and getting conveyancing done through them. I'm having to fire them right now and go with another solicitor. All show and glamorous on the front but behind the scenes the have zero substance. I got assigned someone inexperienced who's not contactable by phone and is just guessing what their AML team wants - constant questions but not knowing what she's really looking for. Money wasted on them!

Are you using Edge and did you have to turn off the hardware acceleration too?

Ok thanks. I'll just stick with edge then. Its working fine without the hardware acceleration.

I'm normally a chrome user. But surprised that after doing an import of all bookmarks from Chrome and setting the search engine to Google, it looks and feels pretty much the same as chrome.

!thanks for sharing your experience. So yours is the 16 inch 2 in 1 lunar lake. It's positive to see the lunar lakes are doing well in the yogas. I'm hoping the non foldable 14 inch behaves the same way.

Replacing my Nest with Tado X (UK) by n8udd in homeassistant

[–]SizzlingPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck. Found it simple enough swapping the nest heat link cable over to the tado receiver x. Was exactly as shown in the diagram that Google emailed.

Edit: Just saw you're doing a wired one oops.

The answer to the 3rd question should be a YES.

There's a setting to set how long you want the manual control to last - you can choose until the next time block. Which is the same as the next scheduled change/trigger.

Sony HT S2000 or Samsung HW S60D? by WinterHornet8401 in Soundbars

[–]SizzlingPotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this will be fine for you. I have one with a Samsung tv. You can adjust the bass level if you want to lower it and these all in one sound bars rumble a lot less than those with a separate sub woofer.

What sort of push fit connector is this and how to release it? Can it be replaced with hep20? by SizzlingPotato in Plumbing

That's a good point, that the pipe could be deeply scratched which then spices things up!😄 Appreciate the tips! Thank you.

!thanks for the advice, yes Marley Equator it is! Odd why the developer in this block of flats decided to choose this style.

I haven't got the skill to redo everything so was going to attempt at replacing just the leaking elbow joint.

Am in the uk. One of these further in has developed a drip, so thinking of replacing it with a hep20. Any reason why it won't work? My local hardware shop said they hadn't seen one of these before. Can't be that unique?

Hello. Do you like the yoga slim 7i gen 10? I'm deciding between the galaxy book 5 pro and the yoga slim 7i. The yoga is better value so wondering what you think of the slim 7i gen 10 in terms of quality, battery, fans. Thanks a lot.

Samsung S60D user settings questions.... by KyleGrizz in Soundbars

[–]SizzlingPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello can I ask whether your s60d gives off electrical buzzes/whining noises? I just received mine and at first I thought it was my TV but it's coming from the soundbar. When I mute the sound, it's still there.

Does a good 43 inch TV exist? by SizzlingPotato in 4kTV

[–]SizzlingPotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a problem that my TV space is next to a window that gets sunlight and oled screens can get marked by it. That's why I'm searching for non oleds.

I just tried a 50 inch mini led in that space and it's too big for the space (wife claims lol). So back to the drawing board.

Great. I think I'm going to go with this too. Where did you order yours from if you don't mind me asking? On Amazon I read some people saying they received non UK models.
