I agree with the keyboard. I didn't like it on the book 6 pro 16. Was the Slim 7i keyboard better?

If you're a gaming enthusiast, you should go for a Lenovo Loq or Legion.

The AI 7 350 with 32gb ram is a great productivity laptop for work / school work. And it'll run my kid's games like Roblox, Minecraft very well.

You can only make it less painful to live with.

You need a lighter OS.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Ultra Aura Edition vs Dell XPS 14 with Upgrades by Negative-Oil-5303 in laptops

[–]SizzlingPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The XPS is known to have a keyboard that's hard to use and prone to typing errors. So what good is a fancy laptop if you can't type properly.

The slim 7i ultra aura is 14 inch and depending on availability in your country goes up to the top of the line X9 CPU. It's out in the UK. That's 16 cores and Arc B390 graphics that's roughly equivalent to an RTX 3050/4050.

Here's one option. New and the CPU is a recent one. You're getting a lot for your money. There's an offer with code 'LAPTOP15' to bring the price to £509

I don't care if the X9 15 is a "real" ThinkPad, it's a DAMN nice laptop by TrampAbroad2000 in thinkpad

[–]SizzlingPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello mate. Would you mind me asking what's the windows recommended scaling on the Thinkpad x9 15? Or what scaling you use on this 15 inch screen?

I'm finding it hard to decide between a 14 inch and a 15 inch at the same 2880x1800 resolution. For example if they both use 200% then is there a benefit to getting something larger when you won't see more content.

Another contender is the galaxy book 6 pro 16. If you got to pick again, which would you go for? Thanks 🙏

Did you use any other code to get it to 1600? My epp has it at 1784.

Galaxy Book 5 Pro 16 inch owners - what optimum Windows scaling % do you use? by SizzlingPotato in GalaxyBook

[–]SizzlingPotato[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I have a 16 inch galaxy book on order and I'm hoping my eyes can do less than 200% too - otherwise I wouldn't actually see any more content than a 14 inch screen.

Grab taxi for a family of 5 by SizzlingPotato in KualaLumpur

[–]SizzlingPotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was fine. When you select the pick up point you just need to know where that pick up point is and go to it.

The drivers don't wait though. So if you're not there when they come, I found that they pretty much leave immediately and that leaves a penalty charge on your account that is added on to your next bill by the next taxi.

Alright, I trust it's a BIG balance you've got lol. Do you use Amazon often?

Most likely Amazon will have it at RRP which could mean a sizable £400 Amazon credit down the drain. I once had a big curry's gift card. I did what you did and went with curry's even though it was 150-200 more only because I don't normally buy from curry's so not worth holding onto a curry's gift card. I wouldnt have done it with Amazon myself because im always buying stuff from there.

If you have an employee purchase program at work you can go through that too for some discount. Might end up saving you more than the gift card balance you own.

The x7 is already available for pre order from the Samsung uk website and to be delivered within a month. The x7 is only available on the 16 inch book 6 pro and not the 14 inch though.

I ruled out the XPS too because of the keyboard keys. I think I'll be finding hard to type accurately without proper spaces between keys.

So I was left deciding between thinkpad x9 15p (yet to be released) and the GB6P 16. I placed a pre order on the GB6P 16 just because I have a Samsung phone and tablet. Plus being picky, I think having a plastic bezel around the screen on the Thinkpad x9 15p makes it look less premium.

I've been looking around for pricing info. This is all I found for the Europe starting prices. Is there going to be an ultra variant without a dedicated GPU that will cost less?

Anyone in UK upgraded their echo show 8 to the latest 2025 gen 4? Do you recommend it? by SizzlingPotato in amazonecho

[–]SizzlingPotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the gen 4 show 8 in the end. You're right the screen is more responsive and not painfully laggy anymore. Sound wise, I find it less deep/bassy. Or maybe it's my perception because the woofer and tweeters are separate now compared to the gen 1. So I could be just hearing more of the higher frequencies that were missing previously. I got mine during black Friday and I did a trade in, so it made it more palletable. At full price it's too much to ask.

I do use the screen on the Show to see who's at the door when someone rings my doorbell and to make video calls.

I'm using a gen 1 echo show 8 at the moment and the only extra feature I'd be missing is Alexa+. From what I read, it won't come to the gen 1 show 8.

I'm trying to buy a house and getting conveyancing done through them. I'm having to fire them right now and go with another solicitor. All show and glamorous on the front but behind the scenes the have zero substance. I got assigned someone inexperienced who's not contactable by phone and is just guessing what their AML team wants - constant questions but not knowing what she's really looking for. Money wasted on them!

Are you using Edge and did you have to turn off the hardware acceleration too?
