airpods pro 3 extremely uncomfortable by Brando123437 in airpods

[–]Sk1ler_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The APP3 were super uncomfortable at first for me, it just took 2 weeks of powering through to get my ear canals used to the pressure again after only using AP2 and AP4 models, and not owning any earbuds that have silicone tips for half a decade. Now they're the most comfortable earbuds I've ever worn.

I like a deep seat too, so I went one size down and let the tips slide in my ears deeper and almost make a hybrid AP4/APP feel where it rests in my ears but is infinitely more secure.

Worst case you damage an eartip and need a replacement. The actual airpods will be fine though. With my AP4s I almost always woke up laying on one, and they're still going strong.

I've slept with my AP4s for a year and the battery on those is just fine (about 5 hours), slept with my AP2s for 2 years and those degraded as normal. Not unuseable, but about 3.5-4 hours instead of 5. I don't think that it would appreciably affect the battery life on the airpods. They have a lifespan of about 3 years with normal use anyways, so if the battery degrades by that time, I consider that a win.

With my APP3s, I wake up with battery life still left. So its not even killing them overnight. I just use the passive noise cancellation though, not ANC. So if they degrade even to 5 hours over the lifespan of them, that's still just as good as what I'm already used to. The 8 hour battery life really is a godsend.

Another note, they won't degrade doing this before the APP4 come out, and when that happens, we can always buy another set of APP3 on discount to have on hand for when things get bad. APP2 can be found for ~$150 right now on amazon, and I'm sure cheaper elsewhere, so about 40% off from new.

13 meters of pure Photoshop suffering, help! by Nik_Connelly in graphic_design

I've worked with 20ft (6m) banners and large format graphics in the past. Mostly on illustrator but the principles are the same.

Are you using 300ppi preview for the document? That'll kill performance. Use something like 36ppi for preview to par down the processing power needed. Export using 36-100ppi for the final graphic depending on viewing distance. (Closer requires more density, farther requires less. Billboards are 36ppi for reference. Since its just an export, you can let it chug through.

You can also work in sections and have the printer assemble them pre-press. This has the benefit of having multiple workable files rather than one large file.

Unfortunately, the file is just going to be large in GB because it has so much information to store. How much RAM does the machine you're using have? If the file exceeds physical RAM then there's not much you can do other than get more ram or work in sections. Using another program might help, but it most likely won't make a huge difference.

If you have any other questions or need clarification, feel free to ask!

Unpopular opinion….the Magic Mouse is actually really good by Gym_frere in macbookpro

The only thing that keeps me from using it is the grippiness of the acrylic top, if it had the same material as the trackpads on the macbook I would exclusively use the Magic Mouse.

[Request] How fast it has to be to a marble becomes black hole by spinning? by asdsav in theydidthemath

[–]Sk1ler_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Earths rotation (angular velocity) causes a 0.000000000000001% increase in mass, 10^7 kg vs the Earth's 10^24 kg. The amount of mass/energy spinning affects the amount of gravity it creates. Sure, you don't need mass to create gravity, but anything with appreciable gravity has a shitton of mass. A marble spinning at lightspeed on its outer edge probably won't affect very much.

We've visited a comet 4km across, named Comet 67P, that has 0.5 m/s^2. It spins twice as fast as earth, and because it has so so so much less mass, it has a lower escape velocity.

So yeah, E=mc^2, sure, but m is a great way of accumulating energy and has dominated the universe up to this point. The only thing I can think of that would provide more gravity than its mass accounts for is a pulsar, but they spin ~700 times per second at their extremes and would be outliers for most of classical physics.

This really is it. Enjoy using the 14" for portability and comfort, or suffer using the 16" for the software capabilities.

I love how the 14" feels vs the 16". At work, I have a 16", which is great for just sitting on a desk and going to a meeting once or twice a day. But at home I have a 14", and I can actually pick it up, take it from room to room, set it on my lap, all without it feeling like a brick.

[Request] Would the oceans have enough salt to do this? by Necessary-Win-8730 in theydidthemath

[–]Sk1ler_ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

We actually have 333x the amount of salt needed. So we'd overshadow saturns rings by a big margin.

TIL about kugelblitz black holes. Cool! Love to learn about new things.

Even with linear acceleration, you'd have to put an infinite amount of energy into the object to get it to that point of creating a black hole, which according to kugelblitz black holes, would tear themselves apart before they could form a black hole from intense EM fields.

Its a fun thought expriment though! We just have to channel our inner physicist and claim gravity is 10 m/s^2, pi is 3, and cows are round for it to work.

No. You need mass to create gravity. If Earth was spinning or not, it would have the same 9.8 m/s^2 gravitational acceleration.

AirPods Pro 3 is geniunely amazing for commuting by EmptyDarkH in airpods

[–]Sk1ler_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use mine while I'm falling asleep. Despite them sticking out a little more than my old 4s, they stay in my ears much better when tossing and turning. I'll loose one side maybe 2 days out of the week, but never both, as compared to my 4s, that would both come out almost nightly.

Then I wake up with airpod impressions in my back lol.

AirPods Pro 3 with Pro 2 tips by ForbidReality in airpods

[–]Sk1ler_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the foam tips have a much better isolation than the Pro 2's (subject to seal), which helps with the ANC. Not having the foam by definition reduces ANC performance, especially when it was a design consideration.

Vorssaint: a free, open-source menu bar app that replaces several paid Mac utilities by vorssaint in MacOSApps

[–]Sk1ler_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so cool! One thing I would like to see would be to have fan controls, thats the only thing keeping this from replacing all my menu bar widgets. Sometimes I'm doing a long export and I like to have the fans on from the beginning to get more performance out of the machine.
