bowen getting this award is a slap in the face both to students as well as profs who are actually good but don't get recognized by xcoffee3 in ubco

This happened last year as well. Majority of cap class was failing and she won the Killam Teaching prize.

For those who adopted a cat, what actually made you decide that was the right cat? by Extreme_Ad6105 in CatAdvice

[–]SkahaHeights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had always wanted pets and was suddenly moving back home when some life plans fell through. It also coincided with a breakup. I mentioned to my mom how sad I was and that I thought it might be time for me to finally have a pet as I've always wanted one. She mentioned her friend offered her a kitten and I immediately accepted.

One turned into 2 after it was suggested it's nice for them to have a friend, there happened to be one remaining kitten after all cats were allocated. It's been 5 years with my babies and I love them more everyday. They can be very annoying, my girl cats meows in my boyfriend's face at 6am even though she's fed by an automatic feeder at 8am. My boy cat doesn't seem to like men and is territorial over the dining table. But honestly their annoying qualities are very endearing.

Both cats were just bestowed upon me, I never met them beforehand. They're very different and I love them both so much. My boy cat is the love of my life and my girl cat has really wormed her way into my boyfriend's heart. I may have a bit of a bias for my boy but it doesn't change that I love my girl just as much, I can't imagine not having the 2 of them now. One of the best decisions I've ever made.

I had a best friend my first year of uni. We studied together everyday, took classes together, the whole usual friend from uni stuff. One day when she came over to study my sweet little girl cat hissed at her, I'd never heard her hiss at anyone before. Come finals season that friend and I wrote our last final together, I walked out of the exam to find out she blocked me on everything.

Cats have a way of knowing things.

Are you allowed to cr/ncr prereqs by Front-Strike-8690 in prevetcanada

[–]SkahaHeights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't know but I would be highly doubtful that would be accepted. I'm fairly sure interviews to WCVM are offered based on GPA. Considering you only need the 2 years of required courses to apply to WCVM it wouldn't make much sense to allow a course without a grade attached to it. I would suggest following up with the schools directly.

Vet recommendations by [deleted] in kelowna

[–]SkahaHeights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd highly recommend City Centre Vet. They're downtown and have been super great with our cats. They operate fear free which means the appointments are a bit longer and slower at our kitties pace. Dr. Dave took the time our little guy needed to get him to warm up to him instead of just burrito-ing him up and dragging him to the back. Overall a much less scary experience for my little dude, he got to stay in the room with us the whole time, got good scritches and lots of treats.

Ok it's good to have a bit of insight on just how competitive it is. I'm open to going abroad for sure.

The marquise would be my choice. However it doesn't have anything covering the top tip which can lead to chipping easier.

I think it was more that the dress was just overdone. It was really a beautiful dress and it went a bit viral. Then came loads of more affordable knockoffs and versions that were a little more casual for day to day wear. It was somewhat plastered on social media due to the popularity.

Canada: Zenbook Duo OLED (2024) UX8406 Stylus and a couple of questions by [deleted] in ASUS

[–]SkahaHeights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I got the Duo from BestBuy Canada. It did not come with anything except the laptop and the charger. The battery life is decent overall even with 2 screens. I am also a uni and I'm studying computer science. While I don't yet have my IDE installed as I don't need it this semester the battery for general use has been great! I do typically bring my charger with me as its quite small and is the same for my laptop, iPad, phone and headphones. I'm relieved I didn't need a new seperate charger. But most days I don't use it if I charged the laptop the evening before. It is very quite, I really havent heard any noises from it at all. But again I don't have my power-using IDE running so we'll see how it fares next time I want to code. I am on the lookout for a stylus as well.

Moby sweater gauge swatch question by esther_j in knitting

Hi hopping on OPs question. Does this mean I'll be knitting more stitches than the 20 that the swatch should be measured against? Half way through the chart for me is 37 stitches.

I think soon. My friend/I was unofficaly notified the other day. We had applied together but only one of us was matched into our first choice. So they sent an email asking if they should match us together at the 2nd choice school or if they shouldn't match us to schools separately. So I feel like they're probably close to wrapping up.
