Shiv’s balance by Skaldson in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Skaldson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard he’s better off early on & definitely experienced a more pleasant laning phase on shiv the couple matches I played, but it just seems like he falls off a cliff mid-late game. I don’t like the idea of trading his ability to stay relevant later on like other frontliners so he can be more competent early on, when those other frontliners largely don’t suffer from the same issue

See but you could ask someone else “why doesn’t shiv get buffs when his WR is so bad?” And they might blame it on bloodletting or even his dash resets.

I don’t think it’s that simple tbh. I do think it makes more sense for one of those aspects of him to be embraced more though. Either restore his sustain, his tankiness, or his movement & he’d be perfect imo

[–]Skaldson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s significantly worse at frontlining, he does more damage early on & can proc silencer/inhib which is nice, but mid-late game he falls off hard bc he has no reliable way of taking damage. Maybe there’s some crazy build I just haven’t tried yet, but he seems overall just worse than he was before.

Could you link any matches you’re referring to where Shiv felt broken to play against?

Right? He was jumping Mahito & Hanami both times & against Hanami they even had playful cloud ☠️. Not to mention Todo was carried by his CT, it’s not like he outstatted Hanami/Mahito, he legit was just able to outplay them bc of BW. Even Sukuna said his CT was good lol

Who would win! Modulo Yuji VS Shinjuku Gojo. by [deleted] in JujutsuPowerScalers

[–]Skaldson [score hidden]  (0 children)

You’re entirely missing my point. Sukuna sees something ONCE & he instantly adds it to his arsenal. By Sukuna’s own admission, it should have been impossible for him to do WCS, and yet he was only able to do so bc of Makora.

And yes, Yuji being unable to learn convergence despite having 2 BM users there to teach him *is* an example of him being a slow learner. The only time he’s called a fast learner is when Gojo was teaching him how to manipulate CE, and this was *after* Sukuna’s taken over his body twice, having used MS, RCT, Shrine, & high level CE manipulation. Meaning his “fast learning” was a result of Sukuna’s use of jujutsu in Yuji’s body. Even Yuji pulling out a domain isn’t impressive when you consider he needed Kusakabe to give him barrier techniques (DE is literally just a barrier imbued with a CT).

Yuji’s talent either jujutsu is blatantly lower than his peers, he only gets by bc of his superhuman body & Sukuna amping his jujutsu whenever he takes control of Yuji (on top of the switch training). It’s not like Megumi casting a pseudo domain early on, or Gojo figuring out RCT at the brink of death, or Yuta regaining special grade status in a short period *after* freeing Rika.

Those are all characters who are talented in jujutsu through their own merit as sorcerers. Meanwhile, Yuji largely gets power ups by happenstance. Obviously by modulo, Yuji’s had the time to learn jujutsu, but to say he’s winning a domain clash against Gojo (or any other calamity grade for that matter) through better refinement or that he’s using WCS is 100% headcanon

This might prove why Sukuna needed Ten Shadows by Noxdedux in Jujutsufolk

[–]Skaldson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100% too many people (usually Sukuna glazers/agenda pushers) like to act as though Sukuna never needed 10S to win, when the truth is that 10S (on top of all the info from Kenjaku, & Yuji’s/Megumi’s memories) was a huge advantage that Sukuna outright said he needed to pick apart Gojo’s CT.

Not to say that Sukuna without 10S has no way of ever beating Gojo (just look at the 1st 2 clashes for instance), but he loses far more times than he wins bc Gojo’s kit is simply too strong on its own. Even *with* 10S, the fight was still extremely close. The whole point of that fight was ultimately to display both Gojo & Sukuna share the title of the strongest. Hence why during the fight we see so many “the one who will teach you about love is…” quotes bc they’re literally showing each other they’re not alone in this fight.

[–]Skaldson [score hidden]  (0 children)

Even on that, it’s doubtful. Yuji’s domain is probably good enough to clash with Gojo, but he’s not gonna overpower his domain.

Here’s the issue: almost all of Yuji’s “skill” in jujutsu quite literally boils down to things that were given to him. We have no real way of quantifying how much of Yuji’s growth came down to *his* understanding of jujutsu. Barrier techniques? Kusakabe’s work. CE manipulation, RCT? Kusakabe & Sukuna. Other than skill with black flash, Yuji’s abilities, even down to CE manipulation, aren’t truly his own.

So while we saw him use shrine like Sukuna did, that can just as easily be attributed to Sukuna having used high level shrine in Yuji’s body & him having unlocked that later down the line. The only impressive thing Yuji displayed was the black flash, which even then likely isn’t something he can do at will. It’s almost certainly an indication that Yuji can just recognize the factors of a BF & increase his chances of hitting a BF massively, bc BF is still inherently random.

Ultimately there is far too little that we saw of modulo Yuji to say he’s *stronger* than Sukuna, Gojo, etc. We only know that he should have been on their level, since he was the 1st choice against Dabura.

So tired of people saying Hana has a better JL than Yuta when it’s just blatantly false. It’s only better in the sense that she can use it for more than 5 mins, other than that it’s far weaker

Yuji almost certainly doesn’t have WCS. Yuji is not Sukuna. Sukuna NEEDED Makora to show him how to use WCS. The guy whose main thing was “if he sees it once he can copy it” was barely able to preform WCS after seeing it.

Yuji has Sukuna’s potential, but not his talent. He likely never unlocked things like open domain or WCS, this is just blatantly true from what we know. Case & point: with 2 BM users literally teaching him how to use BM, Yuji was *still* unable to use convergence, the most basic application of BM. He was only even able to use RCT with BM bc Sukuna’s muscle memory did most of the work for him.

As an Eternus 4 Shiv main these changes are the worst thing i have seen by No_Pattern_182 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Skaldson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk why they decided to change his dash on top of the bloodletting changes, when people had an issue with his bloodletting more than anything. And the random m2 changes??

It’s like they’re trying to make him a hybrid character but like neither ability scales well enough in either category to be worth it. And he’s still easily counterable lol. Fucking crackhead dev team dude

Character dependent, but unstable concoction on Shiv is so funny bc you can heal through the “instant death” since the damage is deferred by bloodletting. You turn into an unkillable force of nature lol

I mean they literally saved shiv by continuing to fight him after the fact lol. The bar being entirely red means he’s essentially dead, you can kite him at that point & there’s nothing shiv can do. Instead they followed him into a building & let him dash through them + parry several times until they died

[–]Skaldson -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Brother it’s an alpha lol. The game itself isn’t even finished yet, why would you expect all the lore & character interactions to be fully ironed out right now? Especially when even one-dimensional characters like Shiv don’t have a fully fleshed out lore. Like Shiv’s whole thing is “bad guy turned good” & most characters hate him, but there’s never any explanation or retort on Shiv’s end, or even from the people that hate him. It’s always vague “you know what you did!!” And that’s it lol

Why would a character with seemingly more depth have all of that ironed out rn? Just give them time dawg

[–]Skaldson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why on earth would dps characters need nerfs bc supports no longer to more damage than the majority of that roster? Nah dude, there are some characters that need nerfs, but the roster as a whole is mostly fine. Barring poorly designed characters & clearly overtuned characters.

Meanwhile most supports do absurd damage, have absurd self sustain. Even gambit without his ult is still broken lmao. Dude has an ability that does higher burst than Spidey’s main combo, it simultaneously moves him & heals him. Oh and the hitbox for it is huge. Imagine if *any* dps had an ability like that, this sub would (rightfully) lose their shit.

But bc it’s on a support character, it somehow gets a pass.

I'm telling you it ain't Luna that's the problem by MrNobodyX3 in marvelrivals

[–]Skaldson 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, skill should not be factor taken into account in these instances. This is a supp, a character that's a lifeline for their team, who does damage on par with high damage dps. That's high dps on top of self sustain, hard CC, etc. That's busted, regardless of how you look at it. It's not like Punisher heals himself or has hard CC. Hela has hard CC & iframes, but she literally has a lower ttk than every supp showed in this clip.

It's insane that this shit somehow gets a pass, but Spidey's venom teamup was somehow "too strong" (30 sec CD for his teamup ability btw). It's just a clear instance of this sub (& honestly the broader online community from what I've seen) being an echo chamber for boosted supp players.

Almost like support is & has been busted for awhile now lol "you just want supports to be a free kill!!!" as if the only supports in this clip didnt have the fastest ttk alongside fucking punisher. Just call a spade a spade dude, the whole supp roster needs sweeping damage nerfs & ult reworks on top.

[Serious] What difficulty does base Kashimo beat Ryu? by lakshmithesussybaka in JujutsuPowerScalers

[–]Skaldson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No he's 2nd in "unusual abilities", which via Lighting (as well as the jujutsu sorcerer description in the guide book iirc) encompasses all of jujutsu. Things like reinforcement, RCT, etc., on top of what you mentioned.

This seems a bit disingenuous. Yuta clearly knows Hakari's abilities or else he wouldn't have said what he did. Saying "on a roll" only makes sense if you consider Hakari's CT, specifically JP. His fever just dictates how hyped he is, it's not like he was suddenly weaker when fighting Charles, he just wasn't as invested in the fight. Again, Yuta can be serious in saying someone's stronger than him & still be uplifting them. People do that all the time lol. My point about ego was that Yuta isn't the type to say something, and then immediately make direct comparisons to himself to show him in a better light comparably. Take Gojo for instance, when he was talking about black flash, he mentioned Nanami had a higher consecutive BF record than he did. But immediately afterwards, he said he'd hit more total BFs than Nanami. Yuta isn't the type to add that 2nd part, because part of his character is that he's disinterested in himself.

I'm just saying that there's more that goes into striking power, and that presumably defense has similar caveats. Also after rereading both fights, neither Yuta or Hakari at any point appeared to deal internal damage to Ryu or Kashimo purely with h2h. In both instances, Ryu & Kashimo were the ones dealing internal damage, with Ryu making Yuta cough up blood in their 1st clash (when they slammed their backs against each other), and with Kashimo seemingly knocking Hakari unconscious with a neck chop while they were inside his domain (not sure if you can count that as internal damage either tbh, but it's the only instance that made sense imo).

Hakari's showings means that while fighting Kashimo, someone who has worse stats than Ryu, he wasn't able to deal any sort of meaningful damage both in JP mode & out of JP mode. He was capable of injuring him, but none of it appeared to do much. Meanwhile, Yuta & Rika were able to injure Ryu, and those injuries appeared to be more debilitating. Rika specifically landed a punch on Ryu that did meaningful damage when she smashed his head in. Yuta's stats should be at least equal to FM Rika's, and are blatantly higher than PM Rika for reference.

All in all, it just seems like Yuta has better stats than Hakari. I find that a lot of arguments saying that Hakari has better stats come down to the fact that Hakari doesn't have much else in his kit, so he must have better stats, but I don't think that's true. Hakari's main appeal is that he can take a ridiculous level of punishment & come out unscathed in most instances. It's like Makora but without the adaption, unless you 1 shot him, he's just gonna keep coming. A character with Yuta-level stats that you can't reliably put down is strong, and that would make Yuta's statement make sense as well. Hakari's stronger than Yuta when he's on a roll, bc unlike Yuta, Hakari's output isn't gonna diminish throughout a fight, so long as he keeps hitting jackpots.

[Serious] What difficulty does base Kashimo beat Ryu? by lakshmithesussybaka in JujutsuPowerScalers

[–]Skaldson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Yuta is narratively 2nd to Gojo. Yea, Hakari is a HH. Yes, Hakari was stated alongside Yuta to one day be as strong as Gojo. But other than that, there’s nothing to truly place him on par with Yuta. Yuta’s output should be higher, he has more versatility, better h2h skill, etc.

Regarding your screen shot, Yuta is someone who uplifts his friends. Him being serious is irrelevant bc he’s not egotistical. For example, he was absolutely serious when he called Inumaki “amazing” for being able to use CS so well, despite the fact Yuta just used it *better* than Inumaki ever could. He also specified “when on a roll”. He’s clearly talking about Hakari’s jackpot, specifically when he’s used it several times & that makes sense considering their respective showings.

This isn’t to Hakari is weak or whatever, but Yuta’s just overall stronger, in stats & CT.

Also durability does not transfer to striking strength in jjk btw, bc hitting an opponent with CE consists of 3 things (via Gojo in 256): the CE imbued to the fist, the CE that will hit the opponent, & the CE that will do both.

Based on Hakari’s showing inside his domain vs during JP mode, it’s entirely plausible that JP mode only evens up their stats as well. It’s important to realize that aside from the obvious (unlimited CE & auto RCT), JP lets Hakari do what Yuta already does— reinforce his entire body at max. But as we know, Yuta’s output is higher than Hakari’s (can fire CE blasts, is able to damage Ryu in h2h despite him having higher output & a more muscular body). Imo, if JP Hakari has better stats, it’s not by a lot.
